RBs get injuries. Oft injured position in the NFL.

Stew hasn't missed a lot of time, dispite your efforts to paint the picture that way.

Stew will be on the field, that I'm not worried about at all.

This.  I think our fans tend to exaggerate the number of games Stewart has missed.  He missed a lot of games for two seaons, but other than that, he has been fairy consistent.

that was only four months ago, for some perspective. he's got another three to go before it really matters.

This has been Stewart's MO his entire career. And why I want to see the Panthers sign a quality Vet after training camp cuts. We need someone who can step in who has experience and can run the ball and protect Cam without hindering offensive production if necessary.

agree, that depth chart scares me

fozzy will probably be kept on for that very reason.

He missed 6 games in 2012, 10 games in 2013, 3 games in 2014 and 3 games in 2015 and couldn't finish the Super Bowl after being handled with kit gloves.

Stewart's availability Game Day is a major concern.

My point was that he doesn't miss any more games on average than the typical running back.  For example, Adrian Peterson in nine seasons has averaged about 13 games a year.  Stewart about 12.5 games a year.  He plays a position that tends to get a lot of injuries.  I do believe our situation irt backup's is a little better now than it has been the last couple of seasons.

Not a good point. Peterson has had 2400 rushing attempts in his career to Stewart's 1300. Yes in 2014 Peterson blew out his ACL and played in only 1 game so the numbers are skewed but other than that year he's averaging nearly 15 games per season for his 9 year career as the feature back. Again, Stewart's work load has always been handled with kit gloves his entire career.

Stewart was a big reason why we ended up where we did last season. That huge gain to start the game against Seattle in the playoffs was tremendous.

Yes, the foot is a concern moving forward, we should certainly have a competent backup plan in place this season. But that doesn't mean we have to keep following this trend of bad mouthing our own players who are key contributors. It makes this place look like it's full of bitter women.

I don't know of too many running backs who could have trotted back out on the field, and proceed to dominate a defense after injuring their foot the way Stewart did in the Super Bowl.

I haven't really seen any posts in this thread that are bad mouthing Stew.  Just some voicing concern of a lingering injury, and obviously not for others.  Outside of injury concerns, you'd have to be an idiot to deny his impact on the field.

At one point not too long ago, you couldn't enter any thread about the guy without sifting through a wasteland of witless exercise bike quips. Insinuating he is made of glass isn't all that constructive either. We get it, he's been dealing with this his whole career.

Certainly the injuries are a concern. The ultimate reality is, Stewart may very well be playing his last season as a Panther in 2016 anyway. So I'm just hoping to see a strong performance from one of our other backs in preseason.
