Two Pricing Tiers this year

Got an email for PSL Owners this morning from Danny Morrison. In it, he states that there will be two Pricing Tiers this year - one for Preseason and one for Regular Season but the overall price is the same as what was sent out in the invoices.

While this is nice that Preseason are "technically" less expensive, I think they should have told us upfront about this and what the breakdown of the pricing is so those of us selling tickets would be able to determine how much to sell them for. For example, I based my asking price on $xxxx/10 and sold three games using that price and now I find that the face value is more. And still don't know what the actual face value is.

What about people who purchased when they went on-sale to the public? Did they pay "old" prices or "new"?

Here's the email excerpt...

  • Ticket Pricing : As a result of annual fan surveys, a new pricing structure has been adopted to better reflect the market value of preseason games compared to regular season games. While the total cost will be the same as we shared with you earlier this year, when you receive your season tickets you will notice two-tiered pricing that reflects lower prices on preseason tickets and higher prices for regular season games.

Edit update:  Here's what I put together based on available non-resale ticket prices

I don't sell my tickets so that's not an issue for me.  I'm still paying the same price when amortized over 10 games so discounting the preseason games and raising the cost of the regular season games is just a shell game.

Thank you, @RoaringRiot. When I lived in NC, I never sold tickets and went to every home game.

I sell most of the games I cannot attend to my friends at or near face value. So the games I've already sold are technically below face and then you know how it goes with not getting much for preseason as it already was.

This stinks for me since I always take a friend with me to the games. Now I have to charge them more. I usually sell my preseason tickets just for what I can get out them anyway. Now that will be even lower. If they are going to drop prices on preseason tickets,  leave the regular season tickets alone. Oh, but then they would be LOSING money! Can't do that! No, no, no!

From what I can find on Ticketmaster with limited availability of face value tickets, the lower endzones are $70 for preseason and $142 for regular season. So those people would expect that each game would be $127.60 each. That's almost half price for preseason.

How are they enabling people to resale their tickets? The price of the season tickets was the same no matter what they put on the ticket.

They made the face value of the regular season tickets higher.  They skewed the price towards the sellable regarding season tickets in response to the survey for the exact reason of selling them.

My 4 tickets between the 2 preseason games will be about $100 total cheaper. That $100 is going to be spread over 16 tickets (over 8 games). Pretty much minimal to anyone buying or selling them.

Alot of fuss about nothing.

    • It is a tough decision.  There is another factor.  Is he in game shape?  A tired Hunt is not better than an "in-shape" Corbett.  When coming off an injury, it is natural to want to protect the injured area, even if it is completely healed.  This can cause you to contort your body for no reason, lose fundamentals, and it could lead to other injuries.  For example, I had a knee in high school that required getting taped.  That made me aware of the knee (not used to tape on my knee) and I pulled my groin (favoring or dragging the leg with the tape).  The trainer explained the groin injury the way I do here--but scared money makes no money.  If he is cleared to play, he is cleared to play.  Watch him, rotate him in for a series, etc.  Specifically, I would want to watch the matchup--who is winning more--Corbett or Hunt?  How is the defense reacting (if at all) to Hunt being in?  Etc.
    • Shannon was sued for $50 million (settled out of court, I believe) for forcing sex on his girlfriend during a two-year relationship.  He denies it, but ESPN let him go last April.  Chad Johnson's wife filed a police report because he head-butted her in a car and was put on probation. I had to google it.  I watched the Ray Rice video and when you see it, you realize just how vile and cowardly abusing a woman really is.  But for the same point Aussie tried to make, these women are defenseless, and being phyiscally bigger and stronger does not validate your actions.   I can't even stand to watch Steve Smith.  I can't normalize this kind of behavior--again, I do not think R-P had that in mind when he posted this.  When the reason was exposed, we should realize that we are talking life (quality of) and death (in some cases) here.
    • I can respect the fact that we should not glorify or normalize men who have a history of beating women.  I do not think anyone was thinking of that when they posted this, but if head-butting your wife and unconsensual sex (rape) is something you cannot overlook, I agree with that.  I think they are both half-crazed attention hounds regardless of their pasts.
