Observer "Super Cam" book

F the Charlotte Observer, they want to make money off him now after some of the garbage they have published about him?

If it weren't for the Panthers, that rag would be on the verge of closing.

yeah i kind of laughed at this blatant display of front-running.  they've published so much unfair horseshit about cam over the years.

If this came from almost anyone else I'd buy it but for a lot of reasons (some football related, many not) I just can't support the Observer in any form or fashion.  That rag is only very slightly better than the Weekly World News at this point and their click-baiting coverage of Cam was just the last straw in a very large preexisting pile of straw.

It would not upset me in the least for them to close their doors.

Overview

Cam Newton is the best quarterback in the NFL, the reigning MVP, one of the faces of the league and already a Panthers legend, but his journey to the top was far from easy. Legal issues lead to Newton transferring out of Florida, and he spent a year at Blinn Community College before eventually capturing the Heisman and leading Auburn to 2010 BCS National Championship. After his incredible year at Auburn, Cam was selected #1 overall by the Carolina Panthers in the 2011 NFL Draft and has gone on to set the NFL on fire with his sublime play on the field and flamboyant personality off of the field.Super Cam: Cam Newton’s Rise to Panthers Greatness is the ultimate tribute to the Panthers superstar, who has embraced the huge expectations as a #1 overall pick and shattered them. Including dozens of full-color photographs, fans are provided a glimpse into Cam’s life – from his days dominating college football at Auburn to his Rookie of the Year campaign in 2011 to the his breakout 2015 season that ended with an MVP and his first Super Bowl appearance but fell painfully short of a title. With the best Cam content in sports from the Charlotte Observer, this keepsake is sure to inspire and entertain Panthers and football fans alike, and get them ready for the 2016 NFL season as Cam looks to follow up his MVP campaign with a repeat performance, capped off by a Super Bowl title

Everyone basically already knows everything about Cam, so I don't see what new information anyone will learn from this. This book cost $15.95 because of the 80 pictures in it.

    • Rags lost again. All is right in the hockey world.
    • He’s responsible for two drafts classes. The first was one of the worst drafts I’ve ever seem. The second one is showing a ton of promise. I’m somewhere between skeptical and hopeful on Morgan.
    • I'm a big fan of Dan. His ability to find productive players deep in the draft will pay off.  I'm going to give him 1.5 draft classes right now, because I do think it's a little unfair to evaluate his first year when he got the job in January, especially when we went into that draft not having a first round pick.  XL and Brooks are still big time TBD players. Both still have incredibly high ceilings, but both have also given us legitimate reasons to have a lot of pause. Trevin Wallace, Chau Smith Wade and Jatavion Sanders have IMO outplayed their draft position early in their careers. That's a great thing. He also got Coker and Demani Richardson as UDFAs that year. Given the situation we were in, I really don't mind the gamble on the high ceiling guys. Still may work out, still may not, but if you made a checklist of ideal situation for an NFL GM to walk into, ours was near the bottom of that list.  Every single 2025 pick is contributing in some way. That typically doesn't happen. I am absolutely blown away by this draft class 6 games in. Even the best GM's miss on occasion, and we can't expect Dan to be 100% on drafts moving forward. Ryan Fitzgerald was an excellent find as well.  Comparing our last two drafts to the previous few is pretty shocking. Can you imagine this season without our Rookies? It would not be good. Additionally, this roster only has 6 players with more than 6 years of experience, and two of those are specialist.  The next step is equally important, and still very much TBD. We have to avoid Cap Chaos.
