Were #5 in ESPN's current preseason power rankings

Carson Palmer is 36 years old, and the last time he played a football game he looked 40 years old out there, and clueless too boot. We destroyed the Cardinals, and they're not getting better, they're about to decline due to their over the hill QB. It's a slow and painful decline, just ask the Saints. All teams have to suffer a drop off when their QB hits the wall.

Just a reminder....the Seahawks had the best defense mainly because every year they get to play these guys...

I mean we played Palmer once and got what? 6 turnovers. Imagine if we got him 2 times a year.

But don't tell a Hawks "Fan" this cause they'll tell you 12's for life or ask where your ring is.

The ranking is based off the votes of 80 ESPN writers/analysts. I highly doubt there is a 80 person conspiracy to get clicks by putting the Panthers at #5.

The Blustery Order of Media Defense Water Buffaloes sho' is funny when they chime in.

It's not who votes, it's who counts the votes.

Fourth best NFC team according to BSPN. Do we really expect anything different? Finish 15 and 1. Defeat 2 of the 3 teams ranked ahead of us. Demolish Seattle except for going into conservative mode on offense and defense and make the score closer than it actually was. Beat Arizona, or actually embarrass Arizona by beating them by 34 points. OK BSPN. Got it. We are not that good once again. We are right where we need to be guy's. Flying under the radar. We are going to destroy/embarrass some teams this season. Our team thrives off of the disrespect. They actually did us a big favor. 12 and 4 and eventual Super Bowl champs is my prediction.

Oh, I wish I didn't have to watch ESPN for pro football, college football, basketball, but since they are pretty much the only "game in town" it's tough. But, this is the same network that just can't get rid of Chris Berman. I mute him, I guess I should mute espn.com, too. No respect last year until we started kicking everybody's azz.....

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
