Five...birds...

When my wife and I first met, I had two parrots, she had one cat.

As of today, the count stands as follows.

Three cats...

Two turtles...

One bearded dragon...

...and five birds.

The birds in question are two quaker parrots, two parakeets and a lovebird.

All tolled, eleven pets, with near half of them being birds. The most birds I ever owned myself was two, so to say this is an adventure would be an understatement.

I was hoping to get more sleep as I faded into old age.

Right now, I'm sincerely doubting that's gonna happen.

I can tell ya this: smell isn't that big an issue (as long as our daughter cleans the turtle tank and the cat litter box, that is).

I had a girlfriend with a bird once...... once.

Until me and a bunch of friends decided to wrap the cage with a bath towel and shotgun a fattie into the cage, wait a couple, remove towel to find bird hanging upside down from the perch. Polly wanna puff? 

Bird was flambeed... and it was fine within an hour, before some of you go full PETA on me. And it was about 38 years ago...

My previous male parrot named Fox (not named after the coach) used to stare at football games so hard it looked like he was breaking down film.

The new one, Jasper (supposed to be male) was with me in the living room this weekend when I turned on a college game. He perked up into a "hey, what's this" posture.

He might wind up being the only other member of my family that watches the game with me.
