You just hate Deangelo, but denagelo was better here than Stewart was. He's a better running back don't see how anyway can dispute that

DeAngelo is a better all time RB

Stewart always fit the Cam Newton era O better when both were healthy.  That IMO can't be disputed.  Did we not go to the Super Bowl last year? Go 15-1? Was Stewart a Pro Bowler?  Seems the O finally took off once Williams' ineffective running  in our scheme was taken out.

and congrats to DeAngelo for going to Pitt and being motivated to lose weight and get in shape to be successful.  He wasn't the Pitt RB here and nothing suggests he would have been.  He didn't fit our scheme that well to begin with and wasn't in great shape. Being fired prompted change.

and I don't hate him.  I just got no issue parting with guys.  We needed to part with him, with 89, etc.  We are now too late to the party with Tolbert. We often wait far too late.  People historically have taken great issue with that because the huddle wants everyone to retire a Panther.  I don't.  If Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Reggie White can be parted with.....so can everyone on our roster.  There are very few players (usually ones who retire early) that legitimately should play an entire career with one team. Have to evolve.

Your first sentence is all I'm saying. You could argue that the team should have adapted to accommodate. But there's no way anybody can say Stewart is better. The stats just don't support it not total stats, not averages, nothing.

The history books will say otherwise. What isn't he better at? You forget who our all-time leading rusher is huh?

Running a zone read heavy scheme with with an emphasis on between the tackle running. Stewart proved to be better at that.  Not a debate.

we went 15-1 and Stewart made the Pro Bowl once he became the featured guy in it

A guy with as many rushing TDs in 9 years with Carolina as our current QB does in 5 and a piece?

And you've been a panthers fan long enough to know that if Deangelo didn't score from 20 yards out, his tds would be going to Stewart who got plenty of cheap tds from him.

You could argue it.  But why?

Why shift an offense to fit a 30 yr old RB and not to fit Cam Newton?

and yes, Stewart is better IN THE SCHEME we have run with Newton.  That is all that is said because as a Panther fan it is all that matters.

if you have to choice of both RBs Williams might be better to most teams because he might fit more teams better.  But that has nothing to do with us.

    • This is huge may not be a trap game but this plays a major part in what they want to do. If we can get some pressure on Sam we know what he does with pressure coming hit and heavy. Also we may be able to take the top off their defense a backup safety trying to stop TMac or Cooker over the top or forcing him to play the backend should allow us to run the ball somewhat effectively. Either they allow some runs or we take some shots and if Bryce and whoever can connect deep we’ll be in business for another big time win against a top notch opponent. Might not be a trap game but health travel game plans all play a major role in each weeks game plan and this week might be leaving our way. We’re missing some replaceable pieces they’re missing key anchors to the offense and defense major difference time to solidly ourselves at one of the top teams in the nfc tomorrow fellas buckle up.
    • Yes.  If I am not mistaken, we need to sign Coker to the ERFA tender and insist that XL spends his spring and summer at a WR camp and not Coon huntin on his four wheeler.  XL was raw when we picked him--which is why I wanted to go another direction--and we are seeing how raw.  He is basically learning a position.     The Panthers will make their move in 2026 to be an NFL powerhouse behind Bryce.  Bryce needs intelligent WRs who catch the ball.  That said, we need a solid #2 to challenge XL and make cutting him easy, if necessary.  A #2 WR (intented to be a #1 by now) with under 400 yards is embarrassing.   On offense, you have to ask, "Where can we get better?"  In my view, #2 WR, TE (although they are improving) and maybe C (again, if we re-sign Mays, he is trending up and at 26, entering his prime--I say stay with him and find competition later in the draft (not good for C).  OL depth maybe?  In other words, XL is a glaring weak spot.
