i predicted we'd start the season 1-3 losing to the broncos, vikings, and falcons back in the preseason

everybody shower me with praise

There's gonna be a shower alright. But it's gonna be a forecast of yellow precipitation, and brown hail.

People are severely overreacting to DG.

Our OL was decent last year in all but 2 or 3 games. And in those games, we could have still did much better had we got better coaching ie double von miller, 3 step drop passing, etc.

Our DL played much better last year. We got pressure from the inside, which we are not getting this year.

You don't pay mega dollars for a corner in a zone scheme. Just no. Now we probably could have kept him one more year on the tag if I am correct but then we would have not got a pick right?

You can't fix everything all at once or in a few years when you inherited the mess DG did.

We needed to get some young talent in the secondary last year with Norman going.

Now this year is when we gotta do something about OT and DE. Gonna need to sign someone decent - good from FA and then hope to make a hell of a pick in the draft as well.

DG couldn't have predicted this much of a OL and DL regression from last year.

Let's see what DG does after this season before rushing to judgment.

What are you talking about? Seattle runs a similar scheme to ours and that doesn't mean Sherman is trash. Man and zone corners have different skill sets.

You pay elite talent. No wonder nobody wanted to hire Gettleman at GM all these years. He has bled talent the last 3 years. It's catching up to us

If you got good coaching and competent players, you don't need elite talent CBs in a zone team.

Good teams invest their money in the trenches. Can't afford to be paying a zone CB the highest contract in the NFL for a CB. Hell no.

We run mainly a cover 3 scheme. Our corners have to be able to cover deep with little to no help. We can't afford to be mediocre at cb as long as we don't have an elite pass rush.

Otherwise, today happens.

Zero upgrades. Obvious holes that you refused to address. Tried to replace an All Pro with 3 rookies. If some of you are gonna praise him for last year you better be able to blame him for this shitshow too.

Gettleman gambled on an aging CJ, on Ealy having a breakout season, and on our offensive line keeping its mojo -----that's not refusing to address holes

Still doesn't mean it didn't work out- I agree we are lacking personnel right now

    • Some fun facts on last nights game.
    • I was reading through the thread seeing if someone would mention this. This is exactly what the Canes are doing and Tripp Tracy alluded to it on the Spittin Chiclets podcast when he said Taylor Hall was our Sam Bennett. The Canes and Panthers have always played identical with the main difference being Florida toes the line between physical and dirty. The Canes have stepped up the physical play this year and are inching closer to that line of physical and dirty. If I’m being honest, as a Montreal fan I wouldn’t love the fact that the Canes seem to be targeting Hutson but as a Canes fan I love it because this is what you have to do in the playoffs. Unfortunately for Montreal they aren’t an overly physical team outside of Anderson and Xhekaj; only the Avs, Stars, and Sabres average less hits per game than Canadians in the playoffs. The Canadians can still make this a series if they stop playing scared and turning the puck over simply because they are getting elite goaltending while the Canes are getting average goaltending but if the Habs continue to play with the yips and either Andersen steps up or Dobes regresses then this series could end in five.
    • I guessed Andy Reid too on that Price is Right. As if I had any idea….
