About those warm up observations....

Now that I am sitting on the Roaring Riot bus and have more time to explain.

Once you have been on the field a few years you just get a sense for the tone of the team. It usually doesn't change get very much, from crazy high energy to high energy. There is a definite vibe on the field before the game starts.

Today was very odd. It was just flat out there. No energy. I started to take notice.

Then Cam came out and skipped his pregame routine. No lap, no football dribbling, no goal post prayer from what I saw. Just started stretching. Which is fine, I just found it odd as much of a creature of habit he is.

Then as I was walking off the field, another long time photog grabbed me asking if I noticed how low energy they were. That's when I knew it wasn't in my head.

Anyways, the team was simply unprepared and uninspired today. The result is what you witnessed.

This is now my biggest concern. Not the coaching, not the talent level. Both of those can be outstanding but if there is no desire to win it doesn't matter.

If they can't get motivated in an important division game for the lead, what will they be motivated for this season?

What is the problem then? Sounds like there's a disconnect between players and the staff including management

Are they keeping the players quiet on the anthem/Charlotte riots? Is the news about the team hiring somebody to coach players on speaking to the media about race and stuff bothering people? Is some concerned with the contracts and letting players like Norman go and not signing KK yet?

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
