I get the DE, even though that dude is trash.  The Saints traded for him and cut him literally just days later.

The DTs though? They're both nose tackle types. Soliai has been garbage.  I wonder if Gman is ready to just cut bait on that move? If Butler's injury was worse that we expected, I'd expect us to be looking at three technique types.

Most are 1 and 2 year deals for a SB push.

Draft: DE Emmanuel Ogbah, DE Shilique Calhoun, CB Brandon Williams, WR Tajae Sharpe, S Jayron Kearse, and DT Michael Pierce. (+1.6)

Cut Bersin, Byrd, Brown, Teddy Williams, Ball, Delaire, Larsen, Simonson, and Norris. (-4.1)

This totals 15m of the 16m. 

If Norman is completely off the table for resigning long term, then sign Antonio Cromartie(+3) and Jeremy Lane(+3.3).

The Panthers would carry over cap space for 2017.

Your link says we will have $44 mill in cap space when you click on 2017.  Heres what I do:

Resign Norwell and Turner.  Tag Short if a long term deal

Sign LT Riley Reiff  demote Oher to back up/or cut if saves money.

Cut Remmers sign RT Don Barclay and draft a RT within 2-4th round.

Cut J Stew (hate to say it) sign RB Knile Davis or Christine Michel (idenitical measurements and speed)

I replace Ed Dickson with TE Dion Sims who is a well balanced TE.

Resign Mario Addison team friendly deal, see if Charles Johnson will do the same.

Sign William gholston for competition and depth and still draft a DE within 1-3 rounds.

Cut McClain and Cut Teddy Williams.

Sign CB DJ Hayden and CB Logan Ryan.

sign FS Duke Williams for competition and depth.

and sorry to say but Tolbert is done and is no longer being used for his running so cut him and sign

FB Kyle Juszczyk from Ravens.

Draft BPA on the offensive side of the ball preferably a OL or RB in the 1st round next year.

Stewart is done IMO.  Tolbert needs to be done.  CAP might be part of the answer... but it's hard to say with the O-line being a steaming pile of garbage.  I'm not sure Blount could run behind our line right now.

It's so difficult to nail down what the biggest need is as everything depends on everything else to work.  Run game to make passes.  Front 7 to help secondary play aggressive.  Oline to get the run going.

When everything has question marks next to it - it's hard to know where to focus.

You have to plan to strategy around the draft and free agency. You cant say Im going to draft a tackle or DE  in the first and second round. You have to take whats available. If the guys in the draft cant unseat the starters then what's the point of drafting them. You have to be sure they can take over the starting job in a year or 2 otherwise you wasted the pick.

I see some listed as OLB that is basically the way Johnson and Addison play.. Melvin Ingram is in his prime, he would fit perfect for this defense. Swarms to the ball, always at the ball like Luke and TD. Very under rated athletically.. can play ST and block kicks. Chandler Jones could be good for this team..
