I was hoping he'd actually get some playing time this year. I think he had a greater upside than Bersin as a WR;  and he could have been an upgrade over Ginn as a KR...and possibly as a receiver.

It's really appalling to me that the coaching staff is ok with ginn stinking up the joint with his returning this year.. never even considered giving byrd a shot.. unreal to me.

Byrd strikes me as the type of player who never got a real chance to prove himself in Carolina but will get picked up by another team and become a solid starter or #3WR and/or a dangerous kick returner.

I think we need to reassess what we thought Byrd's presence on the roster meant.  Look at how Ron has handled Williams.  He was never just going to come in and supplant Remmers.  So, when Oher went down, instead of plugging in for just LT, we swung Remmers around and put Williams in.  The point:  Williams has an opportunity now.  Unfortunately for Byrd, that opportunity never surfaced.
