the NFL is past it's prime

There have been those who have speculated that the officials have held a grudge ever since he "broke the code" and called Hochuli out for his "not old enough" comments.

I was never sure if I believed that, but its evident at this point by the treatment of our QB at this point that the NFL is at war with Can Newton.

Perhaps its disdain for the way he dances and dominates when the other "more respectable" QBs in our division who "do it the right way" have continued to remain at the bottom of the NFC South.

Perhaps there is concern for the culture he is cultivating at the sport at every level, where celebrating and smiling has become a norm in a league that prizes genetic tropes and cliches like "hand the ball off to the ref."

I'm not sure what the cause is, but where there is smoke there is fire and there is a whole lot of smoke.

I honestly feel if the organization would start pressing on this issue, and drawing attention to it, especially on gameday, change could be enacted, but we have been submissive and obedient on the whole and we will gladly give that shield a new coat of paint every week.

Regardless, the story of officials becoming the story with every game has become tiresome, and the growing trend of apathy towards the league reflects this truth:

The NFL isn't as good as it was.

Between the HORRIBLE officiating, millions of extra commercials this year, horrible product (caused by difficult rule system, lack of practicing, and rigged officials), and the fact that you can't have ANY personality now and can't even celebrate makes it unbearable to watch.

Mark Cuban called it awhile back.

I dont know if i have a hangover from last years 15-1 season but its just not as interesting this year. Winning cures all but man, this team just isn't fun to watch this year.

That's my issue with this team, I'm used to losing, but this team is so boring to watch, even when we had terrible seasons there would be flashes of good plays and stuff, this team just has nothing fun to watch except the one or two plays in offense.

The ref costing us 30 seconds by lollying up to the line when we are in a hurry up is only the latest example of what I'm saying.

The guy knows full well what his job there. What are you trying to accomplish?

Contrast this with how quick and motivated the officials were with new Orleans in a similar situation just a drive later.

If this were an isolated incident, it would be one thing. But its a significant part of every game we play.

There was no scenario where they were going to give us a flag that large, regardless of how obvious it was (even the DB knew it)

These officials smell blood in the water, an opportunity to put this team in their place.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
