I'm probably going to study abroad in Scotland this summer

1. It's always cold and wet. Warm to them is 75.

2. Not at all impressed with the selection of females, although I was single when I last visited.

3. Beautiful countryside- a land of never ending photo ops.

4. The accent can be brutal once you're outside the cities.

5. Haggis is disgusting.

6. It's all white. There might be 4-5 people of color in the entire country.

7. Have fun, become a part of the culture and people, not a bystander. Don't be the "ugly American."

the cities are old world charming, but get out in the countryside as much as possible. go to glencoe, an hour or so outside of glasgow, and spend a day or two hiking up into the mountains. just don't be a fuging idiot like me and climb without gear. you'll get stuck. everything is always wet. the moss is wet, the rocks are black and slimy and you will slip off of them and die.

inverness is cool, rent a car or bike and take the road around the eastern side of loch ness, it's by far the best. all the properties have public access points with wooden steps to take you over the fence, so you can traipse at will. climb ben nevis. you think you can understand the scottish accent but you can't. the castle at urquhart is awesome, especially the trebuchet. the cider they brew there is delish. take a couple days in the cairngorms, it's gorgeous. avoid the william wallace monument during school hours, the little buggers invade the place for field trips and ruin your gaze over the stirling battlefield. take ryan air to jump to sites farther afield in europe while you're there but don't bring bags.

have fun! scotland owns

Good for you op. The semester I spent in Edinburgh was some of the best months of my life. The train is cheap. Buy a ticket and go places. The friendliest people I've ever met. There are good looking girls,  granted most are from London.  Maybe I was lucky but it didn't rain nearly as much as everyone says. Oh,  personal opinion but skip Glasgow. Get to the Lake District in England. Get to the Highlands. Don't let a day go by without seeing something new.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
