Beason tells Newton to stop being childish

Mr. Scot

I've heard more from Jon Beason this past week than I did his final 3 years here. Jon Beason loves to talk. I remember him throwing Julius Peppers under the bus on sports talk radio a day after a loss to the Vikings. The guys loves attention and to hear himself talk.

There were people who believed that was a big reason why Peppers left.

There was never any real definitive support for that theory, but it has some plausibility.

Gotta love how Mr. Scot starts this thread rather than the one with Beason's comments about the best GM of all time. Strom Thurmond would be proud!

I posted the article without comment for discussion purposes.

Doesn't mean I agreed with what Beason said. I, in fact, do not, as you'll see if you read my earlier comments within the thread.

frankly I have started to cringe at seeing him at press conferences. I would rather he just didn't do them   He is a man now, not a first or second year player.  I would feel the same way if he were white or red or polka dots or if he were the QB of another team.  He is the QB of the team I support financial and whose jersey I wear on my back on game days

if he just represented himself, fine.  He doesn't. He gets paid by JR, . He represents JR and the Carolina Panthers.  He also represents the season ticket holders, of which I am one, and to some extent the city of Charlotte that helps pay for the stadium and to some level his salary   his representation isn't just on the field.  It's off the field and it is also dealing with the press.

thus my point that JR must be fine with his presentation or it would change

there a lot of things I have to do every day for my paycheck, but I have to do them and I have to show up and be a professional and all that means even when it is something I totally loathe doing,  so does everyone else on this board, I suspect and so does every other living human being that has to work for a paycheck

Cry me a river Justin Timberlake.

Cam standing in front of a podium groveling like a sad submissive puppy immediately after losing a hard fought road game against a division rival isn't going to make a loss any better. It certainly isn't going to make me feel better.

If this is about being a grown ass man, then take your own advice, and find something more important to be concerned about, like, I don't know, being 1-5 maybe? Kthxbye.

I hope these people losing their minds about press conferences also have some of this ire left over for our GM who decided it was a great idea to just roll the dice with our OL situation after watching Cam Newton get mugged, and hit in the head repeatedly for 4 quarters in 2 consecutive games.

This is the same board that created sound bites of our GM saying random or arrogant things just so people could giggle about it. But that big black quarterback better say what I like or else!

That there Cam Newton seem like he more worried about dancing to that hippity hop music than winning foosball games. I tell ya.... if only we could get a white, I mean, excuse me, a more professional quarterback. Yeah that's what I meant to say.

I'm shocked a Russell Wilson comparison hasn't come up LOL. It's hilarious. No Cam, don't dance, don't celebrate, don't wear your weird clothing, don't drive your old car with big rims and loud music, but be yourself Cam. LOL

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
