Cody Zeller & Hornets discussing Contract Extension

He looks so much bigger than he did last year.. he must be on "weight gaining meds".. am I the only one seeing this? Last year he was going into the season thinking he was going to be our PF, but this entire offseason he has been preparing to play Center for us and gaining weight..

as far as the extension, I am not mad at it as long as they aren't thinking starting center $$$.. he is good but not starting caliber player, not a cog you build around..

I'm sure everyone that posts here would hate it, but 4 years / $60 million would be a great extension that we should absolutely try and get done by tonight.

I'm all for it. Cody is the glue for the Hornets. Last year when Al went down he stepped in, now with Roy down he stepped in.

Oh yeah the organization should pounce on that. If Cody is smart though, he will play it out this season. If he stays healthy and has a similar season to last year and the first 3 games of this year the offer sheet he is going to get will be mind blowing.

    • He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.
    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
    • They also came out for the encore and the singers were dressed in canes jerseys. Pretty fuging cool.
