Fitting Way For The 2016 Season To Die

This year just sucks.  Horrible coaching.  Horrible decision making.  Horrible game management.  Subpar personnel.

Rivera goes for the kill with our backs against the endzone and KC keeping everything in front of them?  KB turns into a creampuff and gives the ball up.  Possibly the biggest guy on the entire field and he is held up and allows himself to stripped.

Before that, Cam gets blitzed, and as much as i love him, throws it up for grabs to the one place on the field that he cant...  the two streaks on the other side of the field had a chance of beating their men.  I want to say it was poor play design, but it was much worse decision making and then complete half-ass effort in trying to bring Berry down.  We deserved what we got.

And let us revisit our big offseason acquisition, Andy Lee...  pulls his hamstring in a must-win game and Gano ends up kicking the rest of the game with a few of the returns switching field position and allowing KC easy scores.

We were skating on thin ice all day, as the DBs blew multiple coverages but we escaped because Smith cant throw lol.  We kept plugging holes all year, and it was just a matter of time before the entire bottom fell out.

The offensive line blew assignments all day, especially at key moments...  the 20 play drive with no score being the worst...  even Cam finally snapped on them for that...  and it was so Carolina Panthers.  If there is a drive that defines our franchise, our organization, and our fanbase, it was a 20 play drive that ended without a score lol.  Definitive.  Characteristic.

And again, the playcalling was horrible, including the last two offensive plays on the 20 play drive, but execution was worse.  But, that's what bargain shopping will get you.

Our team always has my support and my fandom, but I'm done dedicating entire Sundays around watching this crap.  Two weeks stirred up enough good memories to make us momentarily forget how truly flawed this team is.  So, back to threads guessing whose heads should roll.

Help Cam, help Luke, because the window is closing.  No more "next year" talk.  Bring people in here who understand we want to win now and every year.  Until then, let us enjoy yet another wasted season...

Not Cam's fault he doesn't have his starting LT and all-pro C in the game. That's why your offensive line doesn't do good.

Coaching's fault for going full retard for not kneeing and just being safe for overtime.

Gano punting did not help at all.

We need veterans in our secondary. Only problem I see right now, and maybe a DE. That's it.

You wont find a bigger Cam guy than me, but the last thing you can do in that situation is throw a pick.  You're up, the line sucks.  Throw it away or take a sack...  not gift them a pick six.

That was a stupid idea by Cam in all honesty. He's great most of the game, but his mistakes like that can cost it. That I agree with, and I'm sure it'll haunt Newton coming into Thursday.

Andy Lee hurt himself while stretching today. Stretching.

Hope you guys like him because he is in essence who we "traded" josh Norman for.

Lol, today encapsulated our entire existence as a franchise.  Punter we traded a 4th rounder for, injures himself stretching.  We blow a 14 point 4th quarter lead after holding the other team to 3 points for the first three quarters.  We throw a pick 6 and fumbled inside of their 35 with no timrouts left and about 30 seconds to go in a tied game.

Disgusting.

As I'm having to do in many threads now, I have to disagree with "subpar personnel".

This team has the talent to be a winning team THIS YEAR.

The fact that they are not has nothing to do with the talent level on this team, it has to do with the performance of that talent level as coached by this coaching staff.

    • Why do you say that. What leads you to think that we, as supporters, think his ceiling is 10-12. That's a ridiculous assumption on your part. The Seahawks won the SB with Darnold passing for 25 TD's, 14 Ints with a 99.1 rating for the season.  The Panthers with Young were at 23 TD's, 11 Ints and a 78.8 rating for the season. Not that far off. The problem with all the Young discourse around here is the assumption that the QB is the sole determining factor for a teams success. That just isn't true and it's certainly not how Morgan and Tilis are building the Panthers.
    • Do we pay based on how many wins or how many games Bryce led us to wins? We've spent quite a bit on defense this year and hopefully they're much improved. If the Panthers do get to 10 wins, but Bryce has another year like last year where he showed up big in a couple, was present in a few, and forgettable in most, do we still pay him 50m per year?  I keep bringing it up because I think it's relevant, but Bryce was outplayed by a 6m per year backup last year. I don't see how it's possible to pay a top tier QB contract to someone who's putting up backup QB production.
    • I understand tempering expectations, but there are some issues with his points. Walker was a 3 year starter, but Green Bay let him walk and no other team was quick to snatch him up. That says something. Freeling will compete to start. With Hunter, we rotate our linemen and even 5th round pick Cam Jackson played some meaningful snaps last year. Both Brown III and Wharton have underwhelmed since we picked them up. Hunter is a run plugger that we have needed. Hunter will play early, even if he isn't the "starter." Brazzell was described as one of Canales' favorite prospects in the draft and he has a speed element we have been missing. I think Canales is going to have plays drawn up with Brazzell on the field just out of pure excitement. It will be up to Brazzell to prove he can handle it, though. If he can, he will play. As far as our secondary picks, yeah they have to earn their stripes and Evero tends to lean on veterans. So they might take time, but if they can show they can play, they will see the field. Smith-Wade and Ransom did. Sam Hecht simply has to show he can handle the mental side of the NFL game. If he can, he is in a direct competition with Fortner, who's also relatively young, but also on his 3rd NFL team and doesn't have the power profile of Hecht.  I can appreciate that Gantt wants to pour cold water on what was perceived as an impactful draft, but facts are facts.
