Cowboys vs Panthers Prediction Thread?

I can't fault you on that prediction. I just have a "feeling" about this game. I think the defense will tighten up and the offense will be able to make some big plays.

Glad someone is with me. I expected a loss the first two games (hoped for better). Romo isn't good when he presses, and after hearing all week that he sucks he'll press. The Cowboys will run for well over 100 and break a couple longer ones, but our defense will do enough with a refocused Beason. It's a spotlight game for Peppers, so he'll make a big play or two. Jake 1 TD, 1 INT, 2 rushing TDs:

Panthers 24

Cowboys 17

This is the ultimate clash of the titans. Which team, which fails under pressure, will fail under pressure more this week?

A few predictions.

  • The Cowboys, as a team, have not registered a sack yet. I expect that to change this week as Jake just holds onto the ball for far too long. Dallas' rush will get to Jake.
  • Barber may be banged, but Jones should get plenty of touches. We've been torched by a Jones from Dallas before, and I doubt that Carolina can contain Felix any better than Julius.
  • This is a big game for our defense. I expect Beason to play well, but his play will not be enough. Peppers may hit the stat sheet this week with a tackle or two. He fails to step it up this week simply because we need him to.
  • And on defensive talk... I expect that Romo will have all night to pick apart our secondary, and thus will look great to Cowboys fans, and NFL fans alike. This game alone will extend Romo's job in Dallas by 2-3 years because of the misconception that he finally stepped it up in a big game.

Cowboys 34 - Panthers 20

I don't think many people view this as a big game around the league. And I think that the coverage will tighten up this week.

It's a huge game for both teams involved, so it's a big game for Romo standards. The winner will come away with a renewed sense of confidence and be reinvigorated. The loser will be on the fast track to mediocrity.. or worse.

I think the Cowboy defense plays big at home on National TV. We keep it close early but the pressure gets to Jake and the sacks start coming in bunches....Jake succumbs to the pressure with a fumble and two picks. The TE's Witten and Bennett keep the chains moving all night for the Cowboy and we get behind 10 points at half time. After the half is when Jake starts forcing the ball and it's game over after that.

Cowpukes 34 - Panthers 17

It makes me freaking sick to write this and go into every game against a decent team and think we are more likely to lose than win. Jerry Richardson, John Fox, Jake Delhomme, Julius Peppers, John Beason, Jordan Gross, Jonathon Stewart, and Deangelo Williams - Please do SOMETHING to give this franchise hope for our future!!!! I wait all year for football season and to start 0-2, very possibly 0-3 is like a mule kick in the gonads on your birthday.

Well my realistic predictions.

- Dallas stacks the box to take out our running "daring" Delhomme to beat them. Thus running backs are pretty contained.

D will - 12 carries 40 yards.

J-stewart 8 carries, 52 yards.

- I suspect Delhomme will attempt some check downs to the RB's so D-will will be more of a factor there.

D - will 4 catches 34 yards 1 TD.

J - Stew 2 catches 22 yards.

- However Delhomme can't shoulder the entire team on his arms, so he will get forced into some bad throws by DeMarcus Ware and Ratliff.

Delhomme - 23-38 258 yards 1 TD , 3 INT

Smith - 5 Catches 110 yds - 1 TD

Final Score - Cowboys win their second home game.

30-17.

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
