Collapse of the running game has exposed Cam's weaknesses as a passer

Me either. And I'm sure most don't want any other QB. But I want my franchise MVP running less over time. and the short game will extend Cam's career and get the Superbowl wins we all want. Shula is betting on Cam legs, and that's a bad bet no matter the QB.

Actually, I think this year Shula has quit betting on Cam's legs. And therein lies the problem and we circle back to the OP. Cam's running game made up for a lack of touch in the short and intermediate range game.

It leaves us with Casey At The Bat, always swinging for the fences and risking the big strike outs. And we all feel a bit like those folks in Mudville now.

that was a joke, but to be fair what cam wore negatively effected the outcome of a game just last week.

i don't know about that

look i understand if you're in a position of power and having people overdress for travel is your kink then maybe you fine cam, but you bench your QB in a regular season game while your team's chances of making the playoffs are thinning like jon gosselin's hair? on primetime? against the seahawks?

and of course anderson turns it over. i fault ron for that one.

I'm sorry to break some hearts, but Fiz is right.

We won today because of our defensive depth --- all of those crazy defensive draft picks and the depth in positions, and even the belief that two rookie CBs could eventually work out. That's how the game was won.

A short field for series after series in the first half allowed the team to score points, and that was purely on our defense. And that was Phillip Rivers out there (in one of his worst years, sure) not a Case Keenum or Sam Bradford.

The defense played with fire and like they really were the heir apparent to the 2015 squad.

And then Cam. 10/27 for 160 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int. As quarterbacking in the Carolinas goes, that was very Chris Weinke-esque. 31 yards on the ground doesn't shore that up much either. He was only sacked twice.

14/32 182 yards, 1 TD the week before. 14/29 246 yards, 2 TD before that against the Raiders. 14/33 192 yards, 1 TD against New Orleans. Three games in a row with just 14 completions, followed up today by just 10.

Man, I've been sniped at for saying that Cam isn't playing like Cam anymore, but the stats don't lie.  And either Fiz is completely right (and what he wrote has a lot of merit) or  Cam has just up and given up on the season, and he did it some time ago -- long before we were our of the running.

It sucks to be writing this AFTER a win, but Shula may have to go just simply because last year he took Cam as far as he could. It's going to have to take someone new to reach Cam and drag better mechanics and decision making out of him. If it can't happen, then we're going to be stuck with what Atlanta found itself in a little over a decade ago.

Don't you know it's never Cams fault ? Lol.  I've said it all year, Cam is as big a part of the problem as anyone on this team/staff.  Some people fail to open their eyes and see that Cam has really not improved since his rookie season.  He still has shitty mechanics and throws high. You take away his ability to run and he becomes below average, which is exactly what has happened.
