Our running backs are dead last in receiving yards

We have 285 receiving yards from backs. To put that into perspective the two worst passing teams in the league (49ers and Bills) both have over 400 yards receiving from their backs.

According to football outsiders Stewart is the worst receiving back in the league

I knew Stewart had stone hands, but this is just sad. Hopefully our next back can actually catch.

Have you seen Cam throw a screen or pass into the flat lately? Not exactly his strong suit. I can't remember how many times I've seen him throw to Stewart in the flat in years passed that require him to either spin completely around because it's behind him or leap because it's high.

Last week he hit Stewart right in the hands and he dropped it. Stewart is a stiff at this point in his career.

Our RB's aren't asked to do much pass catching but it would be nice for Cam to have that outlet. Maybe DG will get us a pass catching RB in the draft...maybe Christian McCaffrey in the 1st rd. Just kidding but snagging one in the draft would be a good move in my opinion.

In all honesty, Stewarts not the kind of guy who'll be catching a lot of screens, because that's not Shula's style. I'm sure Cam is more than capable - and Stewart too. It's just Shula is a bit behind with all these new football styles that never existed when his daddy coached the Miami Dolphins.

He doesn't have the right crayons for a "screen."

Heck, he doesn't even know what that modern day term is.

It would be interesting to see up to date stats but in 2013 we utilized and benefitted from screen plays and especially rb screens near the top of a sorted list.

In 2014 it's more like top third.

So I realize you are fishing for likes but the facts show Shula knows what a screen is.

    • Like your sense of humor.  The answers we seek often lies in the question we ask.
    • This is going to be one of the more competitive camps we've had at WR in awhile... The only locks are XL, TMac, and AT. Coker and Horn Jr both have strong chances at making it. I can see David Moore being WR6. Renfrow might be the WR7 if they decide to carry that many, or he could join Dan Chisena on the PS (who gets stashed to help on ST more than at WR).
    • Sure, but I have long acknowledged he got better.  He went from horrific to mid-lower end starter.  But now you can’t say that…..you got people wanting to spin top 10 play if you look at it this way, great deep ball passer if you only acknowledge x.   I mean the headline in that article is nice for fans to run with.   But in reality Bryce Young was not the best deep passer in week 12.  Far from it.  He went 2 of 7 with no TDs deep.  The week was full of guy who went something along the lines of 3 of 4 with a bomb TD.   So Bryce then gets appointed best deep passer for say….plays like a 50/50 jump ball while trailing late to a fully covered AT that goes incomplete but could have been something given how the defender played it….not an actual good play.  But that could have been a good play.  I mean, same play could have been a pick if everything else was the same and the defender who had AT blanketed played the ball better (nothing changes for Bryce in terms of what he did.  It’s just a 50/50ish ball to someone covered)….and his entire best deep passer week 12 is built off plays that never happened over guys that actually got it done.   we should be happy Bryce with from shouldn’t of been drafted play to serviceable starter last year.  But all this spin that he is somehow actually sneaky great just ain’t something I’m doing yet
