Does anyone buy that Rivera is debating what to do with Luke?

Is it worth the risk playing Cam in two meaningless games behind a patchwork OL while the league is green lighting headhunting on him?

That is my issue sitting Luke at this point.  I mean NFL is brutal for all.  Can't really get behind not playing one healthy stud and having other studs going out there

You don't think that is a stretch, comparing Luke, coming back from 2 concussions within a year. And Cam, who looked good the other night? And that "Patchwork Oline" has played well lately, and there is a chance Daryl may play this week. (He shut out Beasley last game.)

You are a fan, you are allowed to think short term. It is easy for you to say, let him play. The team on the other hand, has to think long term. They have invested a poo ton of money, and resources on Luke. You can't blame them for playing this one safe.

We are in uncharted water here. With a potentially HOF talent. Let's make sure we make the right decision.

I don't disagree that Cam is taking a lot of punishment and is dinged up, but I think playing through a shoulder injury is different than playing during the final two games of a lost season after missing multiple games due to a concussion. If there is risk of long term injury due to Cam's shoulder, I would sit him as well.

The thing about his injury is rest isn't going to keep it for happening again, but there's no need playing him
In useless games. Tough decision, neither is necessarily bad

That is the problem. Playing him after a 20 day window doesn't necessarily.pose more risk for another concussion than waiting for another 6 months for training camp.  It is more about how many opportunities will it take before he has another one. Maybe he won't have more or maybe the very next time. If he is cleared to play I would imagine he isn't at high risk to have another one or they wouldn't clear him. Look at Oher.

Look.. Luke is the most Cerebral LB to ever play the game. He counts on a clear and concise mind to be able to read/disect plays instantaneously, that's what makes him so great. This guy has now suffered 2 mind crippling concussions in the past 2 seasons, let that man rest. We can play season saboteurs perfectly fine without him, S/o to AJ Klein for always stepping up like a starter and not a backup.

I hear folks saying that once he is cleared, he is going to be fine. Is this a fact? Or is this just folks wishful thinking? Cuz there is a difference. If you can tell me he is just as safe playing this week, as he would be waiting until next year. Then fine. Let him play.

We have invested a poo ton of money, and resources into Luke. We are in uncharted water here. We are dealing with a potential HOF career, and a hell of a human being. Don't we owe it to everyone involved, to err on the side of caution on this one?

Especially as we are going nowhere, and have nothing to prove.

It's clear that a good number of people will take whatever decision is made and use it against Rivera, or Gettleman, or Richardson.

Oh I concur. Although most seem to be on the "Sit him" side right now. If they do decide to sit him, who knows how that will go over? But yeah, one way or another, the folks that hate Gman will use it to bash him.

That's another thing. Why do folks bring JR into things. JR is one of the most hands off owners out there. Things have to be going really badly for him to get involved. He hires people, and he trusts them to do their jobs. But yeah, it's his fault.

Because they are annoying and ignorant.

I think there are hypocritical elements at play if you shut him down.   Cam is head hunted every game and playing hurt...and while I think Luke is better than Cam, I would argue Cam is slightly more valuable to the team.

I am not thinking just short term.  I don't see how long term shutting Luke down really means anything other than he won't be at risk of getting hurt the next two weeks if you shut him down.   It isn't going to impact any risks next season.

We have guys on the team who have already been in the protocol twice THIS season.  Now, they aren't Luke.  But they still are going to play and we have studs like Cam risking themselves to the standard anything can happen on any play element in meaningless games.   Cam is a HOF talent too.

If Luke ever gets another concussion on the football field it won't be anyone's fault.  It will be shitty luck...and there ain't nothing you can do about that.  Ask Thomas Davis.   I guess we could of held him out longer after some of those knee injuries.  Doesn't mean that would have mattered.
