It's obviously on the coaches or Luke wouldn't be sitting.

Luke had a scary concussion after just suffering one the season prior. Much more care into that, as concussions are serious.

Cam's shoulder, yes, one could argue is something to look at.

But heck Luke himself played with an injury and he broke records in the playoffs before getting surgery in the offseason. These guys are competitors til the end.

I'd sit Cam.  Play Anderson and Webb and figure out which one deserves to be active on freaking game day and quit carrying 3 QBs on game day.  At least use the roster spot for a legit special teamer.

Webb has been a "legit special teamer."

Cam had a concussion of his own this season as well, and keeps taking shots to the head.  Really no need to risk any further injury at this point, right?

Joe Webb is a jack of all trades.....and Carolina over values that.  He doesn't actually do anything great.  I got no issue w/ having him on the roster but he doesn't need to be active on game day.

What is he legit at?  Returning the ball to the 15 yard line?  Getting penalties on kick coverage?

For every good ST play there are two bad ones.

He did tackle Hester one time....  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not really. That's a little hyperbolic. He plays special teams with focus and aggression, and as such was the second leading tackler last season.

not really, Joe Webb plays special teams because Carolina has to justify him being on the sideline.

but he isn't a special teams ace.  Which is what you should be using the spot for.

Joe Webb on kick return is worthless.   He should never be allowed to return a ball out of the endzone.  But he just can't wait to get geared up to take a loss.

He is a pure athletic dude and yeah, he makes some tackles at special teams.  But those are a product of weak special teams.  Those aren't great special teams plays and he has some pretty boneheaded special teams plays as well that cancel them out.

So, there is no real reason for him to be active on gameday other than Carolina overvalues someone who can do a lot of things but none very good.

and yeah, to a degree 99% of my post are a little hyperbolic. Easier that way.

All I have to say is Webb plays solid special teams, no matter how you slice it. It's easy to pick on anyone in a down season because gloom and doom is cast upon everything. But, let's not forget that our ST unit was top 5 last year (depending upon the metrics), and Webb was officially in consideration for a Pro Bowl. I stand by what I said: he is a legit special steamer.

well, I think sometimes people can accumulate statistics.  That doesn't actually signify high level of play at a position.

Maybe our definition of legit special teamer is different.  If you are going to occupy a roster spot for a special teamer they need to be strong at it.  Webb IMO is a utility JAG that can do a little bit of everything but nothing good.  For example he can return kicks.  You don't worry about Webb fumbling it away or botching the catch or any of that....you know he will catch it and sometimes run forward.  You just know he isn't going to make it back to the 25 yard line and the many he brings it out of the end zone the opponent one that play.  That makes him a bad KR guy for example.

I remember when a coach even admitted Cam would probably be pissed if he learned they were secretly limiting Cam in practice this whole month.

Cam himself wants to play. I don't think it's on the coaches really.

It's absolutely on the coaches. He will be pissed, but he will get over it. I know he wants to play, same as Luke. But the coaches have to make a good judgement call. It's not worth it at this point.
