Eagles ask Jason Peters to take pay cut

We need to do both. Get a quality stop gap and draft someone to mold behind them. Let's face it, there seem to be no Day 1 starters at LT in the draft. Need a solid vet and develop someone behind him. If we're going to get back to the playoffs, we can't have both Oher and Remmers as starting tackles.

Spot on, the tackle from Troy could be good pick up in 2nd or 3rd round.

Keep in mind guys, that every player gets older.  Oher and Peter today, are not what they were 8 years ago.  You are not getting the same player, still worth something, but you are not getting the 2008 player, just the name

Agree, and that's why I can/can't believe Matt Kalil is so coveted here.  He's been an injury prone bag of suck.  Peters was a Pro Bowler in 2016.

Hahahaha, you guys are crazy. Peters is going to ask more than what we can afford.

"What we can afford"? I thought the huddle's mantra this offseason was having a near limitless Cap and plenty of picks?

I'd rather draft a younger guy like Ryan Ramczyk. No more stop gap guys.

It's early, but 2018 looks to be a much better year to draft tackles.  Getting the stop gap for a couple years as we try and win the whole thing to overlap with the OT taken with the 32 or 64 pick in 2018 as he semi-redshirts for a year makes sense.

i think Gman will spend a bit more than he normally would for someone like Peters or Whitworth knowing that it will only be a 2 or 3 year deal.  However, i don't think he will go all Redskins in his spending.  Again, hoping the family connections to Charlotte give us an edge

If he goes complete el-cheapo at LT he should be tarred, feathered, and flogged at the intersection of Trade and Tryon.  Cam Newton is our franchise, a talent like no other, and after all that happened to him and this team in 2016, one of the multiple possibilities mentioned on this board of LTs with quality experience in this league must be attained.

People do realize if Peters hits the market you could be in a bidding war with half a dozen other teams right? There are 32 starting left tackle spots and nowhere near 32 starter quality tackles in the league.

Panthers definitely should be in that "half dozen" because who tf are we not to be.

    • I agree with OP notion, QBs always get credited for game winning drives even if they do minimal. Just last night Caleb got credited for a GE drive when they basically ran the ball the whole drive and only had to go 36 yards.   And there are drives where Bryce could of had a game winning drive if not for a Legette drop vs Philly or a Chubba fumble vs Tampa
    • You are actually, genuinely comparing Bryce to Jimmy fuging Pickles? Jimmy accounted for 3 touchdowns in his 10 starts in 2010. In Bryce’s 10 games post benching last year, he accounted for 20 touchdowns. Jimmy threw three touchdowns in 2010. Three. Bryce has thrown 10 touchdowns through 6 games. He is currently on track to throw for 3300 yards, 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Wtf are we even talking about anymore. I mean seriously
    • Tepper? The guy that directs the coaches towards goals that he set for them… that guy. He is the one.    I don’t think he ever was going to be expelled from class, they had him come in for garbage time maybe the 2nd week he was benched.  I will say this. People said he wasn’t under pressure the last part of the year when he did better, but he was fighting for his career and that’s pressure. And he saved his career too. I don’t reject him for those kinds of things I reject him for the physical things. I have always brought it down to he has slim margin for error and has to be perfect. People with the tool set have a little fatter margin for error. Why make it harder on yourself? Got nothing to do with hating him.  I am no statistician but game that margin thing out a lot and see how that works.
