Now I understand why the Falcons lost

The Falcons blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl to the Patriots, and Lady Gaga may be to blame.

Well, it's not entirely Gaga's fault. The NFL has made a spectacle of the halftime show at the big game, so it tends to go on much longer than the 15-minute break players are used to the rest of the season. There's analysis of the game, an intro the show, the performance and then the cleanup of the show.

After it's all said and done, players have been waiting nearly an hour to get back on the field. When asked if the lull between the second and third quarter had an impact, Falcons receiver Mohamed Sanu said yes.

"It definitely (affected us) because usually halftime is only like 15 minutes so when you're not on the field for an hour, it's like going to work out, having a great workout, sitting on the couch for an hour and then trying to work out again," he said Friday on NFL Network.

Mohamed Sanu says extended halftime affected Falcons in Super Bowl

Well, that explains it.

He did mention one other minor detail though...

Sanu also said he felt the playcalling from Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan should have included more run plays.

Ah...that.

Lady Gaga must be a Patriot fan.

(I knew they shouldn't have trusted her)

On a related note, this quote from above...

...isn't getting old anytime soon, if ever.

it was deep in to the 4th quarter before the Falcons completely collapsed, plus the patriots had to wait the same amount of time they did.

exactly, I don't think you can blame a long halftime show when you come out slinging the ball and playing smash mouth defense like they did almost the entire 3rd quarter.

The travel to the west coast affected us.

i don't think you can blame it on that. We were in Cali for an entire week before we actually played the game. Plenty of time to adjust to the time difference, get acclimated to the city, and get used to the climate.

our superbowl loss had more to do with inexperience, dealing with the media, and the bright lights and hoopla that is the superbowl. It's not a football game anymore, it's an entertainment spectacle, and unfortunately we just weren't ready for that stage. But playing in the superbowl is invaluable experience, and will definitely pay dividends when we make it there next time, which of course, I hope is this year.

Pretty sure he was joking with that post.
