Let's make this easy for you chicken little / debbie downers...

The salary cap is about $180 mil for 53 guys.

Our top 8 guys, (Cam Short Keuchly Olsen Kalil Stew Thomas and Star) eat up about 85 mil. 

This leaves 95 mil for 45 guys.  Note, this is around 2 mil per player.  If you want a shiny new LT, S, WR, or DE, you're probably going to have to pay more than 2 mil., so you need a bunch of guys making .5-1 mil per year.  Guys making .5-1 mil per year are generally not going to be all-pros

For example, if you want Matt Kalil for $6 mil per year, you need at least 4 other guys making a mil each to balance it out.

I'm more or less ok with the guys we've cut & re-signed.  But I DO agree I'm expecting an active free agency.  I really want to see us get 4 - 6 FAs:  LT & SS, Slot WR, Nickelback, for sure.  Maybe a DE depending on if there's anyone out there, but that's less urgent with our guys re-signed and good / deep DE talent in the draft.  Maybe a K too to ensure competition for Gano (though perhaps that can be a UDFA...)

The Gettleman bashers never manage to offer alternatives that are both realistic, i.e not signing some marquee FA that another team is obviously going to lock up, or ones that fit the cap situation we're in, OR name the UDFAs that we should sign and for how much who will be superior players...
