I still don't think they are drafting Fournette.

I think they are drafting a QB. You heard it hear first. They came out of nowhere to draft Bortles, wouldn't be surprised if they shocked everyone with a QB.

First, they've said that they believe in Bortles. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, Coughlin ain't wasting a pick on a QB project that may or may not turn out. He is going to go for a more sure thing with his first pick.

Nah this is Bortles last season if he sucks again. They want to get a guy like Leonard to take some pressure off Bortles. On paper they have everything you want.

If/when they suck again, if it's because of QB play they'll draft their guy early next year

That definitely makes sense and I'm probably wrong.

I'm just saying it is an eerily similar situation to Gabbert. Bortles has been really bad and he got even worse this year.

I'm probably wrong, but they kind of have to say they believe in Bortles regardless of what they are doing. Last time they were very tight lipped about drafting Bortles so they might be doing the same with Mitch or Kizer.

In all likelihood you're right and I'm wrong.

Please Please Please make this happen.

Have seen majority of mocks even post FA have Hooker going to Jax stating it would be the final piece to a elite DB group setting up a monster D

Sent using the amazing CarolinaHuddle mobile app

They just gave a pretty big contrat to Gipson last year, he's not Hooker's level but still.

On paper Jax doesn't have many holes.....except QB :)

I would be in favor of signing Murray if it meant the Jags would draft LF at #4.

I'm sure that puts me in the minority on this board.

I really like Fournette as a prospect and won't be upset if we draft him.  But I'm not sure he's worth the 8th pick for a team that has as many other needs as we do.

For that pick to pay off you have to make a deep playoff run or two in the next 2-3 years.  Because RBs don't last.  And drafting a RB in the top 10 means you are making that guy one of the 3 highest paid RBs in the NFL before he ever takes a snap.   Is he the next AP or the next Trent Richardson?  Or, more likely, is he somewhere in between?

If he's not having AP or Zeke type seasons, then it's a waste of a top 10 pick.

Would you trade the 8th pick for Todd Gurley right now?

Fournette and Cam in the back field doesn't mean anything when you run I formation

Thank you.

Picking LF means we are likely completely changing the offense.  On the plus side, it means many fewer QB runs and hits on Cam.  But it does mean Cam's legs are less of a threat.  Maybe I'm wrong, but I really don't think we are running a lot of zone read / options when LF is on the field.  McCaffrey is a MUCH better fit for the offense we ran last year.

Saying "how do you stop Cam plus LF in the backfield" implies we are 1) drafting LF in the top 10 to do something he has not demonstrated a proficiency for in college and 2) not evolving the offense to limit Cam's running, despite repeated team statements to the contrary.

Doesn't mean we won't draft LF.  But I do think it means that if we draft him, it's LF running the ball instead of Cam.

I wouldn't go RB at pick 8 also. But Jonathan Stewart is not reliable enough to pay $5 million this year. So it's either draft the best RB in the draft. Or somewhere in later rounds. Or pick up a RB like Latavius Murray. If Stew was 5 yrs younger it would not be a concern. So. It makes too much sense to draft Fournette if we can get him
