Remember when Kris Jenkins said...

I thought everybody on that defense played with heart last night, except for Peppers. They're still missing tackles and they still need a stud DT to clog the middle, but I saw guys playing pissed off last night.

I'm going to agree here. There were some mad SOB's out there on D last night. Problem is that they just aren't very good with little support up front. Also, the coaching is awful.

But fire? Some of those guys last night were playin their butts off.

Can Meeks and Cowher work together?

If Fox goes so does Meeks. One thing about Cowher is he always keeps good Coordinators around him. Yes Jenks was right and he was talking about Pep. How would this team look if we kept Jenks instead of Pep?

I'm also getting tired of people dogging player because they speak out. We cut Key for some stupid reason just like jenks But give Smith a pass when he knocks out teamates. Now I love Steve and felt they made the right move but what hurts a team more?

Jenkins had little heart. Loads of talent, but little heart. If he had heart, the weight would have not been a problem.

Fwiw, heart without talent means nothing. We don't have that much talent on the defensive line. Peppers has some, and Johnson is getting better, but at the tackle position, we are just not good and no amount of heart is going to help.

So what does Pep have if jenks has a Little heart?

This is a chronic situation with the team, and not just "it's only three games, we'll get better." The team has been soft for years. This has to be a reflection of Fox. No more scapegoats or excuses. As long as he's here, this is what we'll get.

I agree with this 100%. We have been seeing this same thing for a long time now. Even last years 12-4 season the defense was getting shredded, no pass rush, etc. The offense had its bad moments and it was the the great running game that was the difference. All the flaws were there. Special teams was horrible two seasons ago, and last year aside from Jones wasnt anything special.

It's my thought that had we begun 3-0 or even 2-1, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Jenkins was and is a punk. It's as simple as that. Winning covers up many a blemish but because we're losing right now, it's the end of the world.

I measure it in progress. Have we made progress from week 1? I believe we have. That's all I'm asking for. It's a long, long, long season and it's not time to quit.

You are right..... if the Panthers were 3-0 or even 2-1 we wouldnt be having this discussion because in order for that to have happened the Panthers would have played great or at least good defense, played much better special teams and the offense would have had to be better. BUT they did none of those things, so instead are 0-3 with very little if any phase of this team being good with many issues that will not easily go away.

And I agree with you as well. I do think with a tweak or two here and there we can be great again.

I just don't support the blow it up and start over theory. We've still got some talented studs at the skill positions.

    • That is a big HELL NO. As bad as XL was this season, at least he adds a dimension that the coaches can use for specific plays. Coleman is just as bad, yet adds zero diversity to our receiving corps. I’ll take the guy that at least cares enough to show up to meetings. Getting traded to a new team won’t change either of their work ethics.
    • I don't think there is any real reason to amend the rule. If you do, the teams will just find a way to abuse it. All the Browns have to do is just interview SOMEONE to "get through" the process. Hell, interview Jim Caldwell if that's what the actual goal is, just to get around it.  Also, they have all of the candidates required for the Rooney Rule in Aden Durde and Nate Scheelhaase. They are in full compliance already. Scheelhaase is already scheduled for a second interview, for that matter.
    • I don't know about the stans but he's at times been like 60 percent of the offense on a playoff calibre team. He put up 1202 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, then had effing 102 receptions for 924 yards and seven receiving touchdowns. He touched the ball 413 times this season (an average of 24 times per game.) Then you have to add in that he's a hell of a blocker when called upon. Without him, the injury depleted 49ers in a hot NFCWest division don't make the playoffs at all.  If that isn't the Most Valuable Player on the team then who should be? The idea that it is an award solely for QBs is just narrow. Edit to add: Will he win it? No.
