What if Adams, Fournette, and Thomas are all there at 8? Who is the pick?

This ^ and positional value.  At pick 8 a running back would automatically be one of the higher paid running backs in the league.  A successful DE on that same contract would present a lot value relative to other players at the same position.

Personally I would go DE, S, and than RB.  For whatever reason of those three players I'm just afraid he has the highest "bust" chance.  With that being said he might have the higher ceiling but I tend to be conservative.

I think Thomas and Adams are two of the safer picks among the 5-6 prospects.  In some ways I think Thomas might be a safer pick than Garrett even though Garrett has more potential.  Thomas remind somewhat of a smaller JJ Watt.  He tested a lot like him in that he did extremely well in both the power and speed categories.  Most players do well in one or the other.  Also he seems to be a bit of a "try hard" (which is a good thing) so I think the dedication will always be there.

The #8 pick will make 3.1M this year, and around 3.8M the next. Not exactly a large amount for any position, including RB. Gano makes more than that. And RBs generally contribute faster than any other position. You still have a valid point. I would be ecstatic to have any of them.

The first year is less than the others.  The total contract is around 17.2m a year so the average is around 4.3m a year.

That would put it around 12th among RBs if you are looking at average annual salary.  Also it would be 3nd in total guaranteed money among RBs and 2nd in average guaranteed per year.

To put that in perspective 4.3m would be the 25th highest DE.  Actually 4-3 DE, doesn't even include 3-4 ends or rush LBs that play in 3-4.

Its a lot cheaper to replace RB production in free agency than almost any other position on the field.  I'm not saying Fournette not a good pick but positional value is something I'm sure a lot of teams consider.

Of course it would be high on guaranteed money. All 1st rounders are required to have the entire contract that way. Which is why that list has mostly 1st rounders,(EE, Gurley, Gordon,) or RBs who signed recent contracts. How many FA RBs have produced? Murray? Who wasn't cheap at all. I don't care about guaranteed for a 1st rounder, because barring severe injury or just complete bust, they aren't going anywhere in those first four years. They are a bargain anywhere. Cap hit is all that matters. Stewart for all the restructures, is still a huge anchor cap wise. And what RB would you have went after this year in FA? Latavious Murray? Hope not. AP? Sure. Throw 5M or more for that chance. L. Bell is getting 12M guaranteed for just this year. You have a valid point, but guaranteed money matters little when your speaking of rookies who will only be cut if they are just awful. Which I can't imagine any of these players being. Is Elliot not a bargain at his contract? And LF would be 20th in cap hit for 2017. Which is all that matters.

Id have to go with Fournette simply because of how much pressure it would take off Cam. Id be happy with any of the three, but Fournette would make our offense alot more dangerous imo.  I don't think he will be there, so taking that into account, I'd probably have to go with Thomas. I've always heard people say if you have a good pass rush, it makes your whole defense better, including the secondary. Our secondary is pretty young, minus the veterans in Mike Adams and Kurt Coleman.
