Pick # 40 has to be....

Devin

Recommended Posts

Tonight we draft the 40th pick.

To me,  it's between Cam Robinson and Derek Rivers.  Both are of substantial need, and both present great value with the pick.   My money is on Cam Robinson if he's available.

Considering the first round has come and gone...

Who ya got at 40?

I've got Zay Jones or Chris Godwin. They're gonna bring in one more play maker and get this offense back to #1.

I wouldn't mind Godwin at all.

Hes got something special about him

I'm all over the place...

Hard to tell what pick or round we should go after a guy because one team's #40 best player might be another team's #33.  Just like last year, not many teams had Bradberry projected where we took him, but we valued him that highly.

That being said, my guys to pick from for day 2, in no particular order are:

Budda Baker

Obi

Chris Godwin

Zay Jones

Teez Tabor

*I know we need another pass rusher, but I went back through the list of all the DE/OLBs we met with and the only ones left are all tweeners (~250 lbs.), outside of Tanoh from Villanova.

I forgot about Obi like a lot of people for got about Dre....

if Obi and Robinson are there...  damn that's a tough choice.  I think the panthers are in love with the guy

If you could ONLY pick one though... hm?

I feel sad for people who are getting all worked up over second round pick desires. There's a very high probability that you're going to have your heart broken.

It's just a casual conversation hombre.

We need a pass blocking LT. Robinson is a run blocking RT or OG.

Rivers has zero pass rushing moves.

Just no.

BPA.  Hard to argue against most positions at this point.  A ton of DB talent still sitting there though.

That being the case, my logic would be to pick an equally talented player at another position of need where there isn't currently a "ton of talent", then pick the DB with the next 2nd or with the 3rd round pick.

    • Care to elaborate why you disagree? We kicked the ball off 3 times and we kept the Browns to starting field position of the 22, 27, and 10 (would have been 21 before a penalty). All 3 of those are successes with the modern kickoff rule.
    • Its August so obviously quality options are not there. The question is whether any improvement can be made to the bottom of the depth chart.
    • NFL has a huge amount of parity.  The talent level between most NFL starters outside of the top 5 to 10 guys at a position is very comparable.  2020 worst teams Jacksonville Jaguars - 1-15 (worst record in NFL) New York Jets - 2-14 Cincinnati Bengals - 4-11-1 Atlanta Falcons - 4-12 Houston Texans - 4-12 Carolina Panthers - 5-11 Detroit Lions - 5-11 Philadelphia Eagles - 4-11-1 Los Angeles Chargers - 7-9 Denver Broncos - 5-11 2024 Worst teams New York Giants - 3-14 (tied for worst) Cleveland Browns - 3-14 (tied for worst) Tennessee Titans - 3-14 (tied for worst) New England Patriots - 4-13 Carolina Panthers - 5-12 Jacksonville Jaguars - 4-13 Las Vegas Raiders - 4-13 New York Jets - 5-12 Chicago Bears - 5-12 Arizona Cardinals - 8-9 Bengals, Texans, Lions, Eagles, Broncos and the Jags have all made the the playoffs in the last 3 years. What I'm saying is it's stupid to argue when team is the worst when there is so much parity and the system allows quick turnarounds.
