Panthers sign Hollis Thomas (DT)

The Panthers had to make a cut to stay under the 53-man roster limit after signing veteran defensive tackle Hollis Thomas and are releasing rookie DT Ra'Shon "Sunny" Harris, who was picked up on waivers from the Pittsburgh Steelers after final preseason cuts were made.

The Panthers opted to keep Antwon Burton, a three-year veteran playing with his fourth team, as their fourth DT instead of Harris. Burton had one tackle in a 21-7 loss to Dallas on Monday night.

Older than Hollis Thomas?

The thread not the player, although it would be hard to find one older. 14 years in the league is a long freakin time. That definitely shows that we have a big problem, but I guess he had to pass a physical so maybe he is in good shape.

Man I'm pissed The Panthers decided to release Harris. I really thought Harris had potential and believed he could make an impact next season. Thomas probably won't be here next season so why in the hell would they release Harris?

    • I member him staying after practices with only to see he was wearing heavy weight vest, one of his trademarks. He also put in 10 years, right? People forget he was the ST stud that called the snap and made sure everyone lined up right. He was one of the "glue" guys that bought his "lunch pail" to work.... He was a willing solider, all teams need a couple of them. He blocked for sooo many panthers RBs- Davis, lane, Williams, foster, goings and when there was huge injuries he took over the starter duties and had a couple 100 yard games. If you followed hoover, he took the perfect RB path cause he was just a slow heavy one himself....
    • Walker likely depends on a couple of things. What exactly did Dan promise him, to start with.  How much other interest he actually had for a starter job at high pay is another question. It isn’t outside the realm of possibility that he could stay on as a swing tackle waiting to take Moton’s spot when it opens.    I can’t get myself to consider Icky as a viable anything until we see him back on the field.     Hunt seems to be a team player and good guy but I don’t think he is worth what he is being paid. I have him tentatively earmarked for cap causality in the near future.
    • Definitely epic tv..... A man who wont cheat for a poke dont want one bad enough.
