Day 3: Still a ton of talent

Recommended Posts

The Panthers have done a fantastic job addressing needs with quality talent so far in this draft.  If this trend continues, I expect to see a TE and S brought in with one of our final 3 picks.

TE: This position IMO is the most likely to be addressed.  There are a number of prospects that, in any other draft, would be considered 2nd or 3rd round draft picks. 6 TEs have already been taken in the first 3 rounds, and plenty of talent remains.

Bucky Hodges, Virginia Tech (3-4 round)

Jordan Legget, Clemson (4th round)

George Kittle, Iowa (4th round)

Jeremy Sprinkle, Arkansas (4-5 round)

Jake Butt, Michigan (?)

Michael Roberts, Toledo (5-6)

Cole Hikutini, Louisville (6-7)

Brandon Barnes, Alabama St. (UDFA)

Safety: The safety position is a little more “picked over” than TE.  11 Safeties have come off the board in the first 3 rounds. Some talent still remains, but it is no-where near as high quality as the TEs left on the board. We would likely need to move up to guarantee someone.

Desmond King, Iowa (3rd round)

Tedric Thompson, Colorado (3-4 round)

Eddie Jackson, Alabama (4-5)

Some other players at random positions I will be watching

OG/OT Dorian Johnson, Pittsburgh (2-3)

RB Samaje Perine, Oklahoma (3)

QB Joshua Dobbs, Tennessee (3)

N-CB Corn Elder, Miami (4-5)

CB Howard Wilson, Houston (5-6)

DT Caleb Brantley, Florida (6-7)

Anyone you guys are watching today?  Feel free to add below

Grab a quality TE in the 4th & Safety in the 5th

Leggett > Sprinkles > Butt > Kittles

Nacua > Jackson >Thompson

You can't honestly think Sprinkle is on the Panthers board after shoplifting at Belk in Charlotte prior to the Belk Bowl.  Someone that stupid cannot be trusted.

We don't even have a 4th anymore. It will probably be about 1:30 before we make our first pick today.

bet DG trades up.. he doesn't need a 6th and 7th rounder - if he can just grab 1-2 more quality players on defense - we will be set

    • I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.
    • The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.
    • I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
