Coaching is why Jarrett shows bust

With a player like Jarrett who came into the league with a selfish attitude, it should take alot more effort then what fox and company are doing. My example is Vernon Davis number 10 overall pick I believe about 3 yrs back has shown truly nothing up until the end of last season and beginning of this season. Everyone wrote him off just like Jarrett and he just stoped seeing the field, until a man named Mike singeltary pulled him from the game and sent him to the locker room and said after the game "I would rather have 10 guys out there then someone of his attitude." A complete callout! He didnt bring in a vet to mentor him none of that bs he called him out and basically said were better with no one out there then with you in there. That fuels a player with his type of mindset and vernon said it himself he credited everything hes done as of late to Mike, he said "its about the team now where as before it was just about me." This is why I hope Jarrett doesnt get released because tough love like this can truly bring a player like Jarrett around and it has to come from the coaches not the players. It just shows what good coaching can do, and we dont have it...

Jarrett is an over-hyped receiver from USC like all the others we have drafted. He doesnt have the drive or work ethic to make it in the NFL. At USC he probably didnt have to work hard and that has translated to his time here. RFA next year goodnight and goodbye. bust!

good WRs find a way to be used and are. jarrett is lazy. that is the reason he was benched and inactive for most of his career. that is the reason he is a bust.

this is one area that i think the panthers have done right in even though i think drafting him was a bad idea but that's hindsight.

the thing that has been holding jarrett back is himself. the really good ones, the PLAYERS, will play all the time.

I don't know why we drafted him,he has no speed.Moose is faster than him at his age, just a stupid pick.At the time we had Drew Carter who was as fast as lightning

I use to think Drew Carter was the next Randy Moss. That asshole made me mad, maybe it is the coaching staff.

Yeah, and Kenny Moore will catch anything you throw his way, and has speed, yet rarely see's the field.

Explain that. Moore's fault I guess........

i don't know what moore's problem is. i think we have him a little overhyped around here. he very well could be one of those guys that looks great in preseason and TC but can't get that to translate to real game experience. i wasn't talking about moore though, just jarrett. laziness was a well documented problem he had coming in and can't seem to get the light to turn on even though he has improved.

he was inactive his first year because he refused to learn anything. he refused to do anything extra. he thought all he has to do is to go out on the field and catch the ball. he didn't realize that things weren't going to be as easy in the pros as it was in college in the USC system. his work ethic was poor and even he has admitted to that.

i know that he hasn't been targeted much so far but from what i have seen from him and jarrett is that they are doing very little to get targeted when they are on the field. i don't know how much it would matter since jake is so keyed in on other players but still, jarrett and moore both really haven't done anything to make themselves stand out at this point. moore could still but jarrett...i just don't know.

jarrett was drafted to take key's place (even though key was still on the team at that point). he was drafted because he was like a young version of keyshawn. key wasn't very well liked on the team so this seamed like a smart move at the time. replace an aging and annoying keyshawn in the end of his career with a much younger version. it was a good idea, just ddin't pay off because he wasn't willing to fight as hard as others for the ball or his job.

he has never looked impressive in training camp. this year i could easily say that he was the 6th best target on the field. i would put smith, moose, barnidge, goodson, and moore ahead of jarrett.

as for carter, he was fast but he couldn't hang onto the ball. he got plenty of opportunities but he just couldn't keep that ball in his hands.

The problem is that Jarrett is only on the field for about 10-15 plays a game in the first place. The Panthers just choose to use 2 WR's most of the time because they are a run first team and they're using the TE's in the passing game more as well. So blame it on the schemes.

That is a given, but explain why they drafted him in the first place then. They knew what they were gonna run on offense. WHY?

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
