Can we all just stop the Shula hate...the guy is a very good play caller and he needs our support.  If we can all get behind him and as the fans show our support it will give him the confidence to be the best play caller in the league like i know he can....The guy is creative but the players juts have to execute.....

Lets go for an awesome ride we are about to have next season

Actually, our offense has been somewhat limited--I have no idea what we did in 2015--

He now has weapons.  The main goal this offseason should be 2 things--Cam's mechanics (the shoulder could be a blessing because it may force him to work on his footwork more) and getting more productivity from the WRs.

The OL going to be improved.  I think Ryan will be a good influence on Matt and Matsko will probably be better as well.  Cam will have options to throw he did not have before--RB, slot.

So we will see Shula with no excuses this year.  I am not anti-Shula, but I am not a fan either.

shula will call the plays and get the guys in spots to make the plays, now the players have to go out and make the plays

My concern is not his pre game plans. My concern is his ability to adjust or scrap his game plan during the game if it's not working. No reason to have a 5 step drop pass when the OL can't block instead of trying screen plays. I  think he script the whole game instead of the first 10 or 20 plays then adjust. Take CAM out of the team Shula might not even get hired as a QB coach

Like i said he is not the best play caller but not at the bottom either.  IF you take Shula our of Cam, Cam might be kaepernick

Kaepernick?  Dude you got to be jocking. Cam is the carolina offense. Kaepernick neva was the offense he was just a game manager with a great offense and defense.

The offensive coached have been working since the end of last season to revamp this offense.  They worked to learn about other systems they could apply and that along with the new toys (and an upgraded Oline) think we will be please with the results. There is also a new consultant in the mix. Willingness to learn and change are very good traits in an NFL coach.  I too think the Shula bashing should stop.  Let's wait and see the results.

I think the problem is that what folks think are easy adjustments to make in game really aren't. For example if Cam is getting pummeled on 5 step drops going to screen passes isn't going to magically change anything. And going to quick timing passes sounds good if you are running a WCO but are not what a Coryell vertical system is built on. If it is a simple adjustment you can pretty much figure the coach who develops a good pregame plan would also actually have planned certain adjustments if the defense changes up based on the likelihood that they have seen other teams make similar adjustments. This is a copy cat league.

The issue is actually more complex and is usually more about constant adjustments from play to play, teams disguising what they do, and players winning individual matchups as they progress through the game. A DE setting up one move for 3 plays by doing something else and then on 3rd down go to that move. Playcalling gets too much credit or blame while execution and physical talent are actually much more important and are often overlooked or minimized.

    • Who believes after Rico went off that Dave will go back to Chuba, go very pass happy again, run Chuba 7 times, and give Rico 5 carries?   he has a weird obsession with wanting to pass it over and over with Bryce.
    • I never once said I believed in Sam. Only that he’s proof that the Jets and Panthers are bad organizations. You spent all that time on me. I’m flattered.
    • Story of the year. Get down massively to Arizona, look like your first NFL game to throwing for more than 300 yards and getting the team to within 40 yards of a come back win. Get down 17-0 to Miami, execute the offense to outscore the Dolphins 27-7 the rest of the way. Defeat the Falcons 30-0 throwing for like 150 yards. Personally, I think it would be great to have retained Darnold. Darnold in this scheme with Canales would instantly make this team a contender for the NFC South. However that didn't happen.  I don't know what you do because when they run game gets shut down, and it will get shut down, you have to depend on Bryce to play efficiently. On one third down ball to someone (I forget who), when he was rolling out and made that throw close to the sideline to convert, the TV people would talking about how special that was. What I saw was another receiver streaking all alone 45 yards downfield, with about 5 yards of separation. Even while rolling out, an average QB is able to deliver that ball, signed, and sealed for a touchdown. Bryce's lack of deep ball ability is the achilles heel to this offense and it's something that can't be fixed.  I would love to be able to draft Carson Beck. I think he took a lot of crap at UGA which now seems unwarranted. Looking at how inefficient their offense is now compared to how it was with Beck at QB, and now how he has gone into the system Cam Ward was in and outperformed him massively in just pure execution and efficiency, along with the physical traits, tells me he will be a Top 3 pick. We won't have a Top 3 pick though. So what do we do? I have no idea. Canales is too good of an offensive coach for us to get a Top 3 pick and Bryce is inconsistent enough to get us a Top 10 pick. So absent finding a guy like Nix with tons of experience and good enough measurables, which requires great evaluations, I just think we are stuck.
