What are your EXPECTATIONS for the Hornets this year??

What do you EXPECT our starters to average??

What do you EXPECT our Overall Record to be??

-----------[ 2016 stats ]----------------------------------------------------

Kemba: 23 ppg, 5.5 apg, 4 rpg, 3pt shot = .399%

Batum: 15 ppg, 6 apg, 6 rpg, 3pt shot = .333%

MKG: 9 ppg, 1.5 apg, 7 rpg

Marvin: 11 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3pt shot = .350%

Howard: 13 ppg, 13 rpg, 1.2 bpg

Bench: 50 ppg, 20 rpg, 10 apg, 3pt shot = .327%
(Frank, Belinelli, Cody, Lamb and Sessions)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Add it All Up and What Do You Get = 120 ppg, 23 apg, 57 rpg, 3pt shot = .352%
Compared to 2016 actual numbers = 105 ppg, 23 apg, 44 rpg, 3pt shot - .350%

Our PPG and RPG shoot up because of Dwight.

------------[ Expectations ]----------------------------------------------------

Kemba: 20 ppg, 7 apg, 3.5 rpg, 3pt shot = .400%
His points will dip, but assists will go up from lobbing it up to Howard - Potential Allstar again

Batum: 17 ppg, 8 apg, 5 rpg, 3pt shot = .375%
I think his points will slightly improve because the wide open kick-outs create by defenses collapsing on Howard.

MKG: 10 ppg, 1 apg, 5 rpg
If ever there were a year where he needs to make his presence known - this is it. Don't hold your breath.

Marvin: 13 ppg, 6 rpg, 3pt shot = .355%
His reb #'s will dip because of Howard but his wide open 3pt shot selection will improve - he just has to make them.

Howard: 15 ppg, 13 rpg, 1.5 bpg
Dwight is basically being asked to play to his strengths here. Gobble up the boards, put backs dunks and rim protect. If Kemba and Batum can figure out how to work with Dwight - look out.

Bench: 50 ppg, 23 rpg, 15 apg, 3pt shot = .350%
If we can keep the same production from our bench as last year - with a bit more consistency - I will be more than happy.. Monk, Frank and Lamb have to improve their 3pt shot % (especially Lamb = .281%).

------------[ Team Expectations ]------------------------------------------------

Overall Record: 45 win team, 4-5 seed in the Playoffs with a 2nd round exit.

Not everybody will be playing all 82 games. Dummy

if you look at GSW players stat, they probably averaged out 300 points per game

Typically you have a 9 or 10 man rotation, so the total of all the players doesn't much exceed the total PPG of the team.

    • I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.
    • Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.
    • The Giants, Cardinals  and Dolphins should have moved on, but they didn't and ended up cutting their QB early into a monster second contract and had to eat a TON of dead cap money.
