Wouldn't be my preference, but I'd still be excited and optimistic considering the familiarity if it did come to fruition.

That being said, I think he may difference between him and Beane regardless of similarities in resume, was that I think Beane was more of a "best of both worlds" kind of candidate.  Beane, IIRC, was regarded as a cap guru when he was appointed interim GM following Hurney's firing.  If the guy we bring in has predominant leaning towards the scouting side of things, which I would still love, I would like to know if we already have a guy in-house that purely studies and and manages the cap as well, and if not, I want to bring in one to complement whoever we hire.

Rob Rogers has been our primary cap guy since the Hurney days.

Mentioned earlier that although all of Cowden's job experience is in football scouting, he's actually got a degree in Finance.

Good re: Rogers.  I wasn't aware of that, as I remember reading how Beane was viewed as a cap guru at the time he was appointed interim following Hurney's dismissal.  I believe it was an Observer article, but i cant find the specific quote on a cursory Google search, but did see several allusions to it with Beane himself talking about how Hurney mentored him and taught him the ins and outs of the cap...  so, after reading that, I just always assumed that was one of his primary functions.

Good to hear about Cowden's finance degree to go along with his scouting experience though...  I think he's my 2nd choice out of the guys you've listed thus far.

One thing's for certain: If the candidates that we've seen reported are accurate, then outside of Don Gregory getting the job (which seems unlikely to me) we're gonna be looking at a significantly younger guy running the team.

Nearly all of the guys that we've seen mentioned are in their early 40s.
