If Barnett keeps up this type of play in the regular season (same as he was in college) it is going to take an insane amount of production for CMC to even halfway makeup for passing on Barnett.

Which I am not sure is even possible if Barnett continues to be a terror off the edge.

Look on the bright side-at least we didn't take Lattimore!! :)

Westbrook looks REALLY good. Just barely droppedwhat would have been a beautiful endzone catch.  Sucks for him b/c that would likely have been the game winning play had he not let the ball bounce out of his grip on the ground.

The Jags are dumb asses for throwing when they had a 3rd and 1 inside their own 10 with 3 time outs left. Now they will lose, yeah its the pre season but still..

I want to cry if we passed up a nightmare edge rusher.

We did.  I pleaded from the rooftops, but we did.  You don't break Reggie White's record in only 3 years without being a freak of a football player between the white lines.  Thank freakin goodness CMC may truly be Marshall Faulk 2.0.  He needs to be.

PS-I truly think in his gut GMan would have rather had Barnett but was overruled.  We'll never know.  Thank goodness CMC is also the real deal.

I suggest you wait for the regular season to commence before making stupid remarks. The Jags OL ranks at the bottom of the league for both talent and depth. Remember Nzegwu? Four sacks and a force fumble in three games and didn't even survive the first wave of cuts. Where is he now???

Lol at suggesting a dude who dominated the SEC and broke Reggie Whites record and who was hands down the best edge rusher in the draft (as is) won't or can't be really good in the NFL.

Very probable we passed up a nasty NFL edge rusher in the draft.

College don't mean poo in the NFL. Move the fug on. Keenum holds numerous passing records. He's at best a back up at this level. So please. Shut your mouth about who we missed out on until the season actually starts.

Personally, I do think give a fug about Barnett. We drafted McCaffrey and a potential good DE in Hall too.

Yeah and how orgasmic would Panther nation be if Hall had the sacks, pressures, forced penalties/bad throws/INTs, double teams/chips/attention that Barnett has generated over limited preseason work in 2 games spread out throughout the entire season?

lmao at college doesn't mean poo in the NFL.

Yea let's draft guys who were all scrubs in college.

Cuz you know, college means poo!

Superbowl champs in no time!

Lmao

Thanks for the laugh

That is like saying prior job experience doesn't mean poo when choosing an applicant.

You a funny guy. Ill give you that.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
