Big week for K and P

Gano blocked me on twitter when I gave an honest assessment (without even tagging his user or anything) about him being bad last year.

Yeah, Gano needs to go. Can't take criticism and tries to avoid it rather than let it motivate. I mean even Takkarist McKinley actually liked a critique I had of him and didn't get butthurt about it and knows he can get better, but Gano just blocks away.

He blocked me too even though I've never tagged him in any tweets. Dude is sensitive

The guy also posted pics of himself in recovery during the offseason after whatever procedure he did, trying to a) infer his sucktitude was at least somewhat injury related and b) suck up to Panthers fans who have no memory/emotional attachment to the team or are blind to his sucktitude.

Words cannot express how bad this guy needs to go.  He not only has the high cap hit and unspectacular physical skills, but he does not have the mental makeup to be a good NFL kicker.

I posted in the Texans preseason thread, but after he missed then made a routine kick in game 1, he pointed at the heavens so long the staff got pissed because he had to get ready for the ensuing kickoff.  Utter joke.

I want an upgrade to Gano, believe me, but I don't want there to be any question that his replacement is an actual upgrade.

You don't cut your kicker, someone with Gano's credentials, unless you have a definitively better option, or you just may be poking the dog.

All that being said, if Butker has caught up to him in camp and shows well in the last game, then maybe he is a viable upgrade.

If he's truly "even" (which he's been SUPERIOR in fanfest/actual preseason games), then you still have to go with the cheaper kid with bigger upside.

Don't forget the Patriots letting Vinatieri go for an unknown from Memphis named Gostkowski.  Butker may or may not be Gostkowski, but Gano DAMN SURE ain't Vinatieri.

    • I have said if you out even an average QB into the offense we are averaging 25+ points a game. But that will never happen with Bryce under center.
    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
