Lee played 9 games for us while costing us a 4th.

We can save 2 million by cutting him NEXT year.

This board talks about Lee like he won games for us last year

Sunk costs, though. It doesn't matter if we gave up three 1st round picks and he didn't play a single snap.

The only thing that matters is his skill level compared to palardy and his cost compared to palardy.

Personally, I think having his skill and leg gives us an edge against our opponents. I understand gauging interest, but unlses we are recouping that 4th (which is not happening), then I think we should keep him.

Plus, with Hurney at the helm, I'm not terribly excited about any draft pick that isnt 1st or 2nd round.

A Hurney 2nd rounder might as well be a UDFA.

Agreed. I don't think the staff ever gave Butker a chance to be honest. That kid's goose was cooked the moment Gettleman got fired.

Except everyone who's watched camp said he sucked.

New surroundings, teammates, people, states, give the kid a break.  He has much bigger upside, is cheaper, and has been absolutely perfect under the lights.

Marty, RR, whoever, JR if necessary....GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS!!!!!!!!!!!

I would certainly hope we wouldn't handicap ourselves at punter just to pick up an additional late round pick.

Why just assume that we'd be handicapping ourselves as opposed to strengthening yourself at the position for the next 10-15 years? Hell, if you believe Thomas (which I don't in this case), a punter can play into his mid 40s, which means we could lock the position up for two decades.

I was responding directly to his post speculating that Lee would be our punter unless someone offered up a trade.

Yep, game day is all that matters. Anyone watching practice warm ups would've assumed that Chris Weinke was our starting QB and Delhomme was just a camp arm.
