A word on sacks

Some people in the game thread have this idea that EVERY throw has to be within three seconds. No. It doesn't. Because not every play is a quick hitter. Some require time to open up.

If the offensive line is prone to collapse then yes the ball does need to be out of his hands quickly. Of course it's on them, but the reality is they're unreliable so he can't afford to turn to stone in the pocket.

Uhh it's called throwing the ball away?  Which is much, much better than taking 7-10 yard losses.

Can't throw away from the pocket unless you have a receiver down the sideline. Plus, again, no quarterback is thinking "one, two, three, I gotta throw." on every pass play. Cam is taking 5 step drops or in the gun on his sacks.

Hell, Brady held it longer than that just today and found gronk open for 6.

Love how this board flamed me for my hate in signing Kalil, but when we play a team with a pass rush, you see why. The dude flat out can't play LT.  Look at Bridgewater, dudes been out for over a full calender year, I'm positive he was happy they didn't keep him. Hell, even the announcer said Kalil can't block speed rushers and that's why the let him walk, but when he signs here, the Homers come out and try to act like it's a big signing...as long as Kalil is on this roster, Cam will be hit and sacked by any team that rushes that side, and you all know damn well, whether you admit it or not cut you're homers, Cam panics when he doesn't trust his Oline, and there will be horrible timed throws resulting in turnovers. fug! This signing pisses me off more then anything we've ever done

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
