Played lights out IMO.  You'll never match or replace a guy like Luke.  Ever.  That said, Mayo stepped up and rolled tonight.  Was a bright spot during a rugged game with difficult circumstances.

Agreed. Mayo played as well as you can expect the backup to the best linebacker in the league to play.

david mayo has definitely made strides. if luke is out for an extended period of time, i feel confident with Mayo in center field. 

almost as confident as I felt about AJ Klein last year

Truth be told, I like Mayo more than Klein.  IMO, his coverage skills are better and he seems to have a nose for the ball, and play call for that matter.

What am I missing here?  Yes, Mayo is decent against the run.  However in coverage, he has looked HORRENDOUS.  Not to mention, that two point conversion.  Firstly, they wouldn't have gone for it if Luke were in the game, but secondly, and more importantly, Mayo looked worthless on that play.  Not sure how you can be that confident in him moving forward

I am of the mindset of: keep Mayo in on first and maybe second down, where runs are more likely.  However, in obvious passing downs, put TD at MLB, Shaq at OLB, and put our nickel in.  It's not that hard, and if we had done that, it might have won our game toinght

He played well for a backup. He made some nice plays. He's just not a difference maker like Luke. It's unfair to expect him to be. I completely agree with PantherNation123 that if Luke is out, it should be Shaq and TD out there in our nickel package.

Mayo played well, but I am in mourning and already in the third stage of grief (bargaining with the football gods for Luke's recovery).

Mayo played alright. But with Luke in that last TD doesn’t happen. Either Wentz doesn’t throw it over the middle to Agholor who is leaving Shaq in his dust or Luke picks it.

*assuming Luke isn’t sent to blitz on that play. Why blitz and leave the middle completely open in a 30yard square box with Shaq covering a speedy small receiver is beyond me....

If you go back and watch the replays, nearly every Eagles' 3rd and long conversion was across the middle. That's Luke's world.

Mayo looked a bit lost at first but as the game progressed he looked better. That two point conversion was more on KK and TD. But really it was good blocking by the Eagles and a small cutback by Blount that made that conversion successful.
