The two biggest trash-talkers among NFL quarterbacks are the Carolina Panthers' Cam Newton and the Los Angeles Chargers' Philip Rivers, according to a player survey conducted this season by ESPN's NFL Nation.

Reporters polled 155 players to gauge their opinions on the league's passers. Players were asked to identify their favorite rookie, the most overrated and the quarterback they would most like to sack.

While trash-talking isn't always associated with quarterbacks, four of them received notable mention in the survey: Newton, Rivers, the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers and the New England Patriots' Tom Brady.

Newton occasionally has drawn the ire of opponents for elaborate touchdown celebrations, most notably Tennessee Titans linebacker Avery Williamson in 2015.

Doesn't surprise me one bit.

Part of our success in 2015 was our ability to demoralize opponents, not just with success on the field but also with Cam celebrating and talking trash. I love it. Just have to suck it up when you get bested because you know people will wanna take you down even more.

Posted this in the Smack Talk Thread, because I don't have posting privileges on here, for some odd reason.

I do love the fact NFL players really hate Tom Brady.  That's hilarious.

Also, don't think Cutler is overrated because most think he sucks.  Nor do I think Bradford is overrated because most think he also sucks.

Don't necessarily equate desire to sack with hate per se. Probably has as much to do with his trash talk, or their desire to sack the GOAT. It's not the challenge for certain. As a defender, personally, I'd rather get one against a mobile monster like Cam. Note they also said Brady, even at 40, was most likely to win SBs in the next ten years. The point is, in football, it's probably more important to be respected than "liked" by the opposition in the heat of battle. Insert Gen. George Patton quote here. See also, Sound Fx on Atlanta sideline when Sanu (I think) was mouthing off about the lead and putting up fifty on the Pats. Guy sitting next to him, "But, it's Tom Brady though," or something like that. He knew what the real score was.

    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
    • This makes me wish we took a flyer on Quinn Ewers late in the draft
    • He has been a good player and clean player over the years. I don’t follow that close but think he was closing in on setting his resume for his place in the all time rankings. I am sympathetic to him becaus this will hurt him there.
