Leadership, and lack thereof

We are now experiencing what is called a void in leadership.

There is seemingly no leadership on the offensive side of the ball, from the coaches to the practice squad.

There is no leadership in the Front Office, with no team President, and an interim GM.

There is no leadership from the head coach, as he refuses to accept the glaring weaknesses on his team, and refuses to modify his rigid stance on modern football.

So, we have a pretty well constructed team, with no current leadership.

This exactly what you can expect until that changes.

I couldn't agree more but you forgot that we have bad leadership in the owner's suite (for a while now), i.e. inserting yourself and your emotions at the wrong times. I can't decide which is worse!

I was lumping JR's dumbass in with the Front Office lack of leadership.

There is leadership on the offensive side of the ball, though.

Where?

Stew, Kalil, Olsen, Cam, Trai, Norwell?

They are great players, the other players look up to them, but I don't see the leadership.  At least not right now.

So, what does Luke or TD do that you don't see from Cam, Olsen, Cam, Trai or Norwell? Everyone leads in different ways. The defense appears to have "leaders" because they are a good unit, and that side of the ball is filled with probably our best players.

This franchise is ran like a backwoods mom and pop shop. JR doesn't know what in the world he is doing. He keeps hiring these stupid defensive coaches and wants to play football like it's the 1970's. The lack of leadership starts at the top.

Then our dumb 1970’s defensive minded head coach hires a 1970’s offensive minded offensive coordinator.

Like Christ, no wonder Beane said “f*ck it”.

Brandon Beane would probably make a suggestion and look around the room and see a bunch of reactions like he was speaking french

I think our true issue on offense, is there's just a lack of talent. Either lack of talent or pieces that don't fit, and we have now and have had management that didn't know how to build around the talent that we do have. I don't think it's a leadership issue, but then again, I could be wrong

They are all great/good players, but that, and the C on your chest don't make you a leader.

The void on the offensive side of the ball starts with Ron, then Shula.

I do want to see Cam, Trai, and whomever else step up in that department though, may go a long way.

See, I don't understand this. What makes them not a leader but Luke and/or TD leaders? All the rah rah stuff you see them two doing, you see Cam and/or Olsen doing.

Cam accounts for what, 80% of our offense? He steps up and carries the load, because that is what leaders do. Cam is out there taking shot after shot, playing with injuries and such but he's not a leader? Players don't look up to him? Cam and Olsens side of the ball isn't as good as the defensive side of the ball, so of course the defense looks better, and it looks like the defense has "leaders".

    • I have to say, whatever the reason was, Baker was not good here, there was little indication he was gonna be good.  Other than that I pretty much blame Tepper for the first 7 years of his stewardship being pure misery and full of fugtardedness. Things were finally somewhat improved upon in year 8. No coach under Tepper even smelled 8 wins before. And that coach did it with Bryce Young. While most people hated on him.
    • Neither. Stay with Darnold, keep DJ Moore and CMC. Draft Jalen Carter, Kobie Turner in 2023. Draft Drake Maye if Darnold struggles, or Jared Verse if Darnold gets the Panthers 9 wins in 2024. Draft Tyler Shough to backup Darnold in 2025. And stay with Wilks through 2023. Get a new coach if Maye is the pick or give Wilks a defender in Verse if he wins. That's what I wanted at the end of 2022, and CJ or BY were never worth that cost. A QB with a pro pedigree that grades out in the top 20 picks isn't even worth that cost.
