  Spoiler Alert!

UPDATE 10/31/18:

Ladies and gentleman... Happy fuging Halloween. We have our answer regarding Rick’s fate. We’ll have a Q&A out sometime tomorrow with more details, but we know everyone is antsy for answers to the big question.

DOES RICK DIE?!

The answer is....

NOOOOOO!! HE LIVES!!!!! He will experience another close call on the bridge and everyone will believe he’s dead. However, we’ll learn that he actually survives and Jadis calls in the helicopter to take him UP UP UP far far away...

Not sure if 100%, but lol.

I'd buy that.  Seems very TWD.  As in, what a horrible job after all this media hype and commericals I have seen.  I suspect whoever is watching, joins me in being done with that show.  I'd put good money on that type thing going down as the spoiler hints.

I personally think, that happening.....actually sets up the ending later.  Because that will be relevant later.  They know the show has to end IMO.  They will use that at the end.

Yeah AMC’s marketing ploy of spelling out exactly how many episodes Rick has left is desperate af. I can’t think of a more egregious attempt at ratings since the last TWD gimmick.

God the people producing this show are idiots, or they think the audience are idiots.

yeah, my wife is still watching.  Once I saw all these commercials and a literally countdown to the exact episode? I told here, prepare for a YUGE disappointment.  Name a TV show that has ever told you exactly when they were going to kill off the main character.   So stupid.

meanwhile in the TWD office, dumbass writers are like, they are gonna be so surprised when we bring back that dumpster.  It is gonna be awesome!!!!  Those idiots never learned.

Deep breath...

1. Heath's RV was spotted during filming of this episode. Will we see it and/or get a reference to Heath this episode?

There's no mention of Heath. clear.png

2. What happens with Maggie & Negan?

It's straight from the recent comics. Michonne allows Maggie to enter Negan's cell & Maggie is prepared to kill him. Negan isn't surprised and says he can't believe she waited this long. He gets on his knees and tells her to kill him, which surprises Maggie. He finally starts begging her to kill him, and when she asks why, he says so he can be with his wife. Maggie finally decides leaving him alive and suffering is a better punishment. clear.png

3. Which previous TWD characters will we see?

Shane, Hershel, and Sasha. clear.png

4. Can you describe Rick’s interactions with the characters from the past? At least one of them?

The scene with Hershel is back at his farm. Rick apologizes for what happened to him, Beth, and Glenn and also for what he put Maggie through. Rick then says he's looking for his family. Hershel says that Rick's family isn't here. Then he tells Rick to wake up. Rick says the same thing to the other characters - that he's looking for his family. But he's told they aren't there. We are meant to assume he means his Lori and Carl family. But we realize that he is referring to his Michonne, Judith and the rest of the group family, and that's why Hershel said they weren't there.

The one with Shane was back at the scene where Rick was shot in the pilot episode. Shane is just being a dick, asking how his daughter's doing, etc. Shane then confesses that he's an asshole, but he had hoped some of it rubbed off on Rick, if only to harden him. Then Shane starts yelling that Rick needs to do what needs to be done. (So cryptic. Bet Gimple wrote that part. clear.png)

5. Does the bridge hold?

Yes. Rick finally remembers what Daryl told him and leads the herd back to the camp (which has been vacated) with the hope the bridge will collapse. It doesn't. clear.png

6. How does Rick exit the show?

When the bridge holds, Rick notices a case of dynamite on the bridge. By this time, Maggie, Michonne, Carol, and several others arrive to help, but Rick thinks they're a delusion since he had a hallucination about them earlier. Rick fires a gunshot at the case of dynamite, and the bridge goes up in a fireball, while everyone looks on in horror. clear.png

7. How does the episode end?

It ends with Jadis finding Rick near the bridge after the explosion, and she takes takes him with her on the helicopter.clear.png

8. Do we learn anything else about the helicopter people? What A and B mean?

No, not really. Jadis tells the guy on the radio something along the lines of, “I have a live one.” She might have also called Rick an A. clear.png

9. Anything else you want to share with us about it?

Massive time jump at the very end. Magna and her crew are introduced, and they are saved from a herd by a stranger.

That stranger is revealed to be Judith Grimes (around 10 years old), toting a shotgun and wearing Carl's hat

I might just have to check the Shane scene out on youtube or something because Jon Bernthal rules.

I'm not sure I buy the whole "Rick shoots the dynamite and blows the bridge in front of everyone, and then is somehow magically whisked away by Jadis on a Helicopter after" sequence. It makes very little sense that this would happen with all the other witnesses, unless somehow Jadis convinces them all it is for Rick's own good/health.

Also, it is a little confusing that that is the "ending scene" but then we get a time jump with another ending scene.

It could all be disinfo. It could also 100% be a real Scott Gimple piece of hot garbage. Who knows? I guess I'll find out Monday when I watch it a day late, lol. Gonna try not to spoil myself with actual recaps after the fact.

I bet that is just the real leak.  Stuff the years I followed it leaked pretty accurately.  Plus, I totally buy big picture what they say happens.  I'd but good money on that being true.   Now they are setting up for when they have to end the show IMO.

IMO, the show has gotten really good again.  Of course they do some dumb poo...but they always have done dumb poo, all the way from the beginning.  It's just that many fans are now jaded and overanalyze everything with this show.  And for that I put the blame on Scott Gimple for going above and beyond with stupid.

But overall, I think the show has course corrected...at least thus far.  And for those complaining about the show doing a countdown to Rick's final days, they really had no choice.  Long before the show said anything, the spoiler sites already outed that Rick will only be in the first five episodes.  So, the show is just milking the info that's already in public domain to create drama and hopefully get some fans that left to tune back in for the end of Rick.

And no, I don't think he is dying (I've avoided specific spoilers, so it's just my guess).  I don't think they want to close the door on Rick in case Andrew Lincoln changes is mind at some point and wants to come back...even if it's only in a guest role.  My guess is he'll go with the helicopter, probably after being found by Jadis.  That leaves his character as open ended in case he wants to return, but still allows the show to move on in the immediate future.

I'd agree that the writing and dialogue has improved. It's just unfortunate that the show is in such a low spot with the last two seasons that it's an uphill climb. They have to handle tonight's episode flawlessly because of the impact it will have. This entire season was supposed to be a reset with Carl still on the show and going into the next plot point of the comics. They're getting there anyway, and I think I know how they will play it with Carl not being alive now, but it just isn't the same.

Alright, this show is back. I haven't been truly excited about this show in years, but it FEELS like they have completely corrected the path here. This episode was much needed for many reasons. Getting Rick out but the way they did is absolutely the right call, just in the event that Andrew Lincoln returns. I'm thinking he's done for good until the show finds it's wrap point, then he comes back to finish the show on that high note.

Jon Bernthal is forever my favorite actor to have been on the show, and seeing him back as Shane brought a joy that I cannot properly express in words. I wish I could take a time machine and convince the showrunners to keep him since they weren't going to remain comic accurate anyway. Having him and Rick constantly at odds may have gotten old, but his performance would have made that worth it.

Scott Wilson....just...damn. Was tough to see him, and his dialogue even felt like a eulogy.

The writing and directing of this episode were superb. The Sasha sequence was the only one I had a problem with because the CGI was so jarring.

The conclusion to the episode was very risky, but it worked. They end with Rick being helicoptered away, while "Space Junk" (the song that played at the end of Pilot) played. Then the flash forward, the area is grown up, you know time has passed significantly. Then you see a new group, fighting there way into that same clearing. Then shots and a child's voice. Judith. This obviously paralleling Carl saving Tyreese's group at the prison. It just worked. Idk why, but it did for me.

Then the preview of the next 3 episodes was great. They showed the big comic moments that are coming, they showed that Judith is truly taking Carl's place in the story arc. I think it will work, but I don't think the audience will like having to deal with another really young child actor. Chandler Riggs caught a ton of crap for just being annoying, and I could see Judith's actress getting the same treatment by the audience (maybe more because her voice is higher pitched than Chandler at roughly that age).

All in all, I think we're in for some interesting stuff happening. I think Maggie takes the lead for a while, which is good. With Cohan leaving the show though, who knows how they write her off.

I went from hate watching due to the previous time investment to genuinely being excited to see next week. God I hope they keep this up.

I think it was a good episode and has been a good season so far.

However, count me as one of the jaded fans that will never think this show will be anything other than something to watch on Sunday nights from here on out. The stupid, illogical stuff just kills me.

Like, why was there even dynamite on the bridge in the first place? "Hey guys, lets just leave these crates of supplies out in the open for just anyone to come along and grab. You never know, we might need to blow this bridge sometime, so lets make especially sure we leave a crate full of explosives unguarded, right in the middle of this bridge we just spent a lot of time and drama rebuilding."

It's nonsensical BS like that that is a total turn off.

The best parts of this episode were Hershel (RIP,) Negan (as usual) and the comedic value of Daryl tears.

Also, in case anyone didn't know, (and this is a minor spoiler so I will hide it) this coming week is the week that:

Maggie is supposed to walk off the show

So don't get your hopes up too much moving forward.

I'm excited to see time jump stuff like the Whisperers (finally) and Carol with long hair, lol, but I'm not holding out hope that "Judith is the new Carl" is going to pay off. From the preview, her overly southern accent is terrible, and I don't know that she's needed. I still don't like that she didn't get it as an infant at the prison, but to continue to force her on us now that she has been an afterthought for seasons is a joke.

I still don't know that this show will see a season 10, but I hope that the Whisperers arc can at least bring some good stuff for the last episodes of the series. Maybe it'll be like that GoT theory where the White Walkers kill everyone and win in the end. Maybe the Whisperers will wipe out the TWD cast and the FTWD will come across their ashes, lol.

THE ONLY thing that I think can save TWD for more seasons beyond this one is if it focuses on Negan.

I quit watching. Haven't seen an episode this season. Sounds like Rick was saved by a flying dumpster. Still reading though.

Pretty much. Blows up a bridge to drop a herd, somehow blowing him into the river (he wasn't on the bridge, so apparently he got sucked towards the blast, lol.) Jadis finds him washed ashore as she is waiting for her mystery helicopter. He wakes up flying away to wherever, then boom we get a time jump (maybe 5-8 years) and meet Magna's crew from the comics fighting to survive a small herd. Shots ring out and a tiny voice calls them over to a safe spot. We see a little girl with a country accent, whom they ask her name. Cue shot of sheriff's hat on the ground and katana on back. "My name's Judith... Judith Grimes."

cue Scott Gimple self high five!
