This team is Gettleman's legacy

Fair or not, as the years pass, ultimately the legacy Gettleman left behind here will be defined by his failure to field a consistently stable offensive line.

You can argue about some of the controversial player acquisitions or releases until you are blue in the face. But one thing that cannot be denied is, on the whole as far as real quantifiable consistency, we've managed f*ck all with this offensive line the last 4 years.

People act like this is the fugging NBA where one player can effect the outcome of the game.   News flash - talent isn't that important.  There's 11 guys out there and it doesn't matter if 3 of them are the best ever to play the position - if the other 8 don't know what they're doing or where they're supposed to be it's still going to be a train wreck.

If you have 11 JAG's that are disciplined and well coached and in a system that they can handle then you will beat 11 superstars without those things 99 times out of 100.   It's not like the difference between the best player  in the NFL and the worst player in the NFL is the difference between high school football and the probowl.

I'm not even saying that Ron and Co. are terrible coaches (OK , I am saying that) ... the problem is the same as we saw with FOXY.  When you have an average or below average coaching staff sticking around TOOOOO DAMN LONG  it leads to stagnation.  These players have tuned out the coaches and who can blame them?   Sometimes it's not that the coach is bad, , sometimes it's just time for them to go.

Ron, it's time for you to go.

No amount of coaching makes Byron Bell or Mike Remmers acceptable.

Gman was the best thing that happened to this franchise.   No way Gman rolls with these loser coaches over and over.  JR and his incestual meddling ruined this team.

Obviously the norman fiasco and kalil(prob JR who forced this)signing was bad.  Riv/shula should have been gone after the SB, definitely last year

I dont believe that was his choice

Guess what was his choice?

Rolling with Byron Bell, Nate Chandler, Michael Oher, Michael Remmers, and Matt Kalil as tackles.

Cutting Josh Norman and having nothing but rookies to replace him.

Cutting all of our receivers after 2013.

Letting Ted Ginn go this year.

And who was available?  Believe it or not guys play where they WANT to play.  Its not always highest bidder wins.  Oher was a nice pass blocker when healthy

The Norman f up stands out as the biggest one  to me.  Rescinding that tag was dumb af.  Ripple effect on other veterans.   Just let him play out the tag and go the next year.  Drafting Shaq and Vern starting to look bad now.

Much better players, that people will ignore, and yet always ask "who was available"? The two big ones that come my mind are Morgan Moses, and Andrew Whitworth.

Whit was never coming here.  Moses could have been nice though it took him some time to adjust.  We need a LT

And who was available? Many, many, options.

    • I agree we won't win a ton of games if our offense isn't a bigger part of the plan.  We didn't have to or try to do that today.  As Bryce continues to grow and get better we'll get more games from him and the offense carrying the load.  Yes, he, Canales and the rest of the offense has to be much more consistent in producing points on offense.  No question.  As you say, we've seen that in spurts.    Should a number 1 overall pick come out carrying a team?  No, despite what fans think.  It's rare for any young player to be born into the league fully formed.   What I saw today was mistakes being corrected.  I'm not going to try to gaslight you saying Bryce hasn't had his share of games we'd all like to forget but since his benching last year he has continued to get better and better.  No, it hasn't been in a straight line but that's just not reality for anyone.   Last year he had 9 picks in 14 games and 3 lost fumbles. This year through 3 games he has 3 picks and 2 lost fumbles.   The amount of pass attempts show me a staff and a team who are not afraid to pass.  They are not protecting Bryce more than any other team would protect their QB.  The rate at which we threw downfield last year shows me the same thing.  The number of potential game winning drives also point to the fact that we aren't limiting our passing attack.  We routinely put the ball in Bryce's hands to get a crucial 3rd downs and 4th downs.  The results are not always what we want but I don't see any lack of trust or faith in him. Tetairoa is tops or leading rookies in yards and catches.  Unless he's throwing it to himself, I'd say we are getting him the ball without too much trouble.  It would be even better if Tetairoa would put two hands on the ball when trying to catch those deep endzone shots.  Bryce hasn't earned an extension yet and he might not but he and the team had a great game today.  I'm going to enjoy watching all of them continue to grow together and hope those spurts start to get ironed out and this roller coaster has a few less dips. Keep pounding.
