If you think some of the criticisms of Shula are too personal then you should absolutely be against these baseless leadership assertions about Newton that have been festering for the last 7 years.

I never said they were too personal for Shula.  It seems to me that you are taking my opinions personally. I criticized Cam's behavior. You think  there is nothing wrong with it.  We disagree. It appears that is very upsetting to you and you keep trying to attribute things to me which do not represent what I have said, what I think, or my beliefs.  I do not understand  the magnitude of the reaction.  Do you expect everyone here to agree about everything?

Many, many years ago, I worked with someone who was friends  with the family of a man who had been the head coach of a major college football team. (Not Shula).  The coach had a winning record...winning 9-10 games a year, went to a good bowl game every year.  He did not win the big one...did not win the conference championship.  Some fans began to talk about firing the coach.  They did not just talk...it grew into an angry movement including billboards, protests,etc...They even sent a moving van to his house. The person I knew saw 1st hand the effect that had on the man's wife and children.  It was a hate filled movement which was terrible for them.  Having heard that perspective is why I do not support the "Fire ________" signs with someone screaming angrily while holding them, or billboards, or plane banners, etc.

Your initial post wasn't as much about the signs about firing him as it was your perceived unfairness of the whole situation. You said these people "have no consideration" for him, and he is "just trying his best to do a good job". You didn't offer that sort of understanding or sympathy with your baseless assertions about Newton's leadership that have been unfairly following him since he first suited up for this team. I'm just trying to get you to see the hypocrisy here. If you're as in tune with various issues as you have led me to believe, you will understand and move forward with the proper perspective of the situation.

For the record, I think it is time for a new offensive coordinator. I'm also on the fence about Rivera. But I don't support making it publicly personal. If others want to do that, it's out of my hands though.

The coaches put their family in that position with their career choice. Anybody that is in a position of the sort from coaches to politicians know that is part of the gig. He they don't want to have their family "deal" with those issues they can go down the street to McDonald's and flip burgers and get orders wrong all day long.

I did not advocate bringing signs to the stadium slamming Cam hoping to get them on national TV .  I stated my opinion on our forum.  Period. Do you see what I am talking about?  I do not think you want to see.  My point was not that Shula does not deserve criticism...he certainly does.  I am objecting to the methods used by some people  against a lot of coaches.

How then can fans voices be heard?  Please explain.

How about emails to the team that have some solid points for you position. Or letters.

The petition would have been a good idea if it stated the reasons behind the request to fire Shula.....made the argument.

Then there is the media...but I think they are the enemy.

Ok, you write your letters, I'll support people going out flying banners.

500 letters on Rivera's desk might get some attention.  Or if the IT department says the email is flooded.  Just saying.

I doubt the letters would ever reach RR at BoA, maybe if you sent them to his house. Would you been fine with that?

Yep, those letters will likely never make it past some intern.

I want Shula gone in the worst way, but I've come to accept that we're stuck with him as long as Rivera is here.

Thus, Rivera must go.

I completely agree with you, RR has hitched his wagon with Shula. Got to get ride of them both, RR won't make the decision to fire Shula.

Shula makes that argument every sunday. We don’t need letters, or petitions, public shame is the only way owners start listening.
