Kuechly needs to step up

Let's face it, not his best performance against the Saints.  He was playing poorly in coverage on multiple 3rd down conversions.  He got blocked on the long run by Ingram.  He didn't' seem to have his A game recognizing what the Saints were doing, especially in the run game.  I look for him to bounce back, rally the troops against the Vikings and shut them down.

The long run was the fault of the DTs. Neither did gap control and Ingram pretty much had 3 open lanes to choose from. Kuechly gambled that he would go one way, got blocked, and there was nobody else around.

Want to hear some baffling statistics about this year's defense?

How many INT's do we have for the entire 2017 season?........5

Who is our team leader in INT's?......Luke with 3. That's right folks our MLB has 60% of the teams INT's this year.

You want to know who is 2nd on the team? ......Mike Adams has the other two. That's right folks our 37 year old safety has the other 40% of the teams INT's.

No other Safety, CB, or LB has a pick this year.

Who leads the team in tackles this year?....Luke has a combined total of 89, despite missing time this year. The 2nd leading tackler is James Bradberry at 60. He has more tackles this year than Thomas Davis (58).

Luke is the least of this team's problems. If we didn't have him our defense would be mediocre best.

Mediocre? The defense would be a dumpster fire without him...

He was one of our best players in this game. PFF had him as our second best defender this game behind Worley.  I guess I am just accustomed to him being better in pass coverage and not allowing those balls over the top between the LBs and the secondary.

Is it me or ever since TD’s wife talked smack about the offense, we have seen a drop in his production? It was something that crossed my mind watching him yesterday. Him and Luke are a mean duo when both are playing well but when one or the other is slacking, it doesn’t seem the same.

I haven't really seen TD do anything of note this entire season. He is absolutely slowing down.

Regarding Luke, he's not been quite as otherworldly game in and out but he's hardly one who needs to step it up.

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
