The Thomas Davis Situation/Repeat Offender (CAR-TB)

It's interesting..I'm trying to find videos of that first offense, where TD hammered Adam Humphries, and most videos of it are taken down.

If anyone can remember, that was the completely clean shoulder tackle that appeared too brutal live.  Upon league review, they had mentioned the fine was due to the "sound" of the hit.  No joke.

Being a fine, TD still appealed to the legitimacy of the hit but to no avail.  The NFL doubled down on a complete wrong call because of how bad it looked and sounded, even though it was a pure textbook (yet insanely hard) tackle.

Can anyone find this?  If they don't reduce this to 1-game, a GIF of the Humphries play needs to be distributed.  That would be their reason and it is absolute bullsh*t.

Just my two cents.

I have the game, it was helmet-helmet, but it wasn't as clear and straight on, it was a football tackle.. I can add the gif if you really want

I would actually just to make sure I'm in the right on this.  I could've sworn it was clean especially given it was a fine and TD still appealed.

This. His head was up making it his face mask to his helmet. It was a great play and should not had been penalized.

Its a football play, he hit his helmet ok. I just don't like the "repeat offender" label as if Davis is out here intentionally head hunting playing like he's Burflict. They come back and give him 2 games, that's bullshit

Maybe Davis should start aiming for knees

That's what a lot of players are afraid of. Larry Fitzgerald has publicly offered to pay any defender's fine who hits him high.

Totally, it is bs.

Definitely helmet contact but intent is proper form against a tiny receiver with him obviously gearing for a proper tackle.  This hit alone is doubling his punishment and I just find it ridiculous.

Gronk f*cking targeted a guy after a play was over.

It really sucks being a defender in the league. Hit them high it's helmet to helmet, hit them low you end there career, hit them with a shoulder and they bounce off for a 40 yard gain. At this point I really wish Davis would have just blown out Adams knee. It's fuging shitty but he wouldn't be benched two games.

    • it's pretty simple IMO.  The Tepper Panthers are the most unsuccessful professional sports in all of sports.  The problem isn't the posters here have changed.  The product dictates the atmosphere more than anything.  In reality, the daily convos about THE worst team in all of pro sports on a fanatics site....is going to feature harsh and critical convo.  Only one entity can actually change that.  It's the Carolina Panthers football team.
    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
