Dave Gettleman Hired By The NY Giants As Their New GM

People see nothing wrong with asking Cam to do this but god forbid this is asked of Luke

It was something Gettleman will prioritize.

He saw the defense as something needed to be strengthened first. He loved that Giants d-line and saw with his own eyes how it brought a superbowl. Couple that with Rivera’s defensive background and of course the Panthers went defense first.

Now that our front seven is one of the best in the NFL, he worked on getting Cam weapons this past offseason and draft. CMC, Samuel, Funchess, Olsen, and finally Byrd all healthy would make a stout and top 10 receiving core for sure. While getting rid of Ginn was dumb, it was also smart to realize we have young speedsters as well and the future would involve them while Ginn likely has little years left of top speed.

Lmfao such dumb.

Kawann Short is far more important than Norman. Him and Luke are the reason this defense can even get pressure right now and why our Edges are feasting.

You really want to go back to when our DTs suck, cause there’s always a Fua for that. Luke would literally be a one man show for the defense and have to carry everything.

first of all KK was still locked up under his rookie contract for another year, norman wasn't.

we already had a superbowl caliber team in place and we were just a few pieces away from making another run at it.

then the idiot lets norman walk and drafts Butler in the 1st round?

lollll brahhh!

Second order of business is to cut multiple franchise talents in increasingly brash and awkward ways. Then finally cut OBJ and draft three receivers to replace him

yeah cutting a 32 y/o locker room cancer is a different scenario than any OBJ situation. and by other franchise talents i assume you mean who? DeAngelo "just here until Hurney's checks stop clearing" Williams?

The cult like following that DG still has on this board is indicative of the atmosphere JR created here over the years where mediocrity was accepted so long as people blindly bought into this image he had built for himself.

You guys need to snap out of it with the blind worship.

    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
