Cam Newton the Fastest NFL QB, Says NYTimes

The article is confusing on this point, but what they say is that Cam reached that speed running with the ball and Wilson was chasing down the man who intercepted his pass so technically, he was not playing offense when he reached top speed...

Also when you're not running with a ball in your hands, you're running in a more natural motion (i.e. both arms fully swinging and providing momentum).  Runners running *with* the ball will be naturally inhibited just a bit.

But Wilson is still a QB no matter what he's doing on the field, that's his position. It doesn't say fastest player on offense, it says fastest QB.

If Cam running with the ball in his hand/arm is just a microsecond slower than Wilson running full out without a ball in his hand/arm, I'm willing to bet Cam is faster than Wilson in a clean race.

Fournette was likely timed at top end speed during his 90 yard run when was never touched. I guarantee there are several players who would beat fournette in a race Like number 10 of the Chiefs

There's a huge size difference there as well, however. Hill would win a race because he starts faster, but wide open, I've said for a long time that Fournette is as fast as any player I've watched.

could be. i'm not sure how much of a difference that would be, but it very well could be.

any of those track guys like marquise goodwin would smoke Fournette in any speed aspect, even top speed at some point during a long run.
