Speculative thread: Was Ron On Board With This, or Was It Strictly A Hurney Decision?

As Scot mentioned in another thread, staff decisions are almost ALWAYS the head coach's decision.

What type of head coach would want to work for a GM where he doesn't even control his staff?

Hurney probably advised but the decision was definitely Ron's.

yes I'm sure he advised him...

Yeah, I know, but the gist of it was, I didn't see him doing it of his own volition, unless he was told it had to be done.

Also when you read that tweet you get the impression that Rivera was pretty pissed at Shula and came close to firing him a day after the game.

Wow, maybe he's turned a new leaf then.  I never thought Ron would do it after all of the bullshit he's tolerated til now.  Bravo!

This is a quick firing too....not one of those "well watch the tape" shits or "well see"

Usually they take at least a week. But 2 days for this franchise may as well be right after the game. Lets go Chicago Bears RR...we like that guy better.

We need some clarity on this. If Hurney is behind the firing, then who gave the extension? Maybe a buyer already been identified?

Possibly JR but Hurney certainly could have made both decisions. The offense needs a reset and overhauling the entire coaching staff would be a massive undertaking right now.

Worth noting: Igo has repeatedly said that Richardson loved having someone from the Shula family on staff.

Richardson is out, and Shula is now out.

Coincidence?

Probably, given that Rivera lobbied for him last year.  Still interesting though.

I honestly bet that Cam did say something. You know him and Rivera had to have a talk after their press conferences....I mean we snap the ball with 3 seconds left every single time so the defense gets a jump every time...that adds to why our OL struggles(not making excuses for them but it's true) and why they get a bead on our plays as well as Shula just being a dumbass.
