Reshaping Newton

We just need to have the Cam Newton that played Sunday to show up every Sunday.   Don't need anything major.  Just single minded focus on his fundamentals and progressions.  No up and downs.  No coming out throwing high.  No good Cam/ Bad Cam.  Also talent so that he doesn't have to do everything.

Agree-eliminate the inconsistency.

I believe its doable.

This is absolutely necessary. We need to do whatever it takes ro get better passing the ball. And yeah, thats starts with your Qb.

Also is starts with having dependable WR's who can catch the ball and create separation. We left 7pts on the board because a WR dropped a perfect thrown ball.

We should still be playing right now. Just shows you how scary Cam is as a QB, if he had the weapons Drew Brees had we would be the best team in the NFC.

“No ups and downs”

”the Cam Newton that played Sunday to show up every Sunday”

The standard this fan base holds Newton to is ridiculous and so unrealistic. Every pro athlete is going to go through up and downs and have bad games. It comes with sports.

Kind of what I was getting at. Do whatever it takes to make our most talented weapon more dangerous.

Cam’s mechanics have got to get better. Footwork and field vision needs improving.

This team has got to stop relying on his run game so much.

He needs a LT.

He needs WRs to fit more dink and dunking. He’s accuracy is not consistent, and as a gunslinger I don’t think it ever will be, he needs receivers who can get separation with good hands. Quit the long yardage bullshit.

The scary thing is, ALL of this has been evident since he started but at the very least since the Panthers were exposed in the SB.

You can't turn a gunslinger into a dink and dunk qb.

Not what I said, I said WR that fit a more sink and dunk scheme IE get separation quickly and gain what the defense gives them. With proper mechanics Cam is good enough to make these kinds of throws. We don’t need him lobbing it in the air only to slow 6’6 receivers 15+ yards downfield constantly.

We have another weapon who is also talented in cmc We need to get the best out of the two of them  like Kurt Warner and Faulk or Brady and Gronkowski. You make the defense worry about cmc and it opens thing up for cam provided he has another playmaker

1 super bowl in 16 seasons while not having any “bad games” hmmm something doesn’t add it

Put Cam under center for the Saints this year and he too would still be playing.

Quit wasting my time with dumb comments.

I think the jury is out  "Cam is good enough to make these kinds of throws".

New QB coach will hopefully help.

It's his 8th season is anyone here actually thinking/suggesting/expecting that Cam is going to be reshaped? or should be?

Goes without saying but you are what you are in your 8th season.

Look at Brett Favres Gruden QB Camp and other interviews with Brett....they figured out you just have to let Brett be Brett and most of his best plays were plays you don't "shape" and were "bad" technically. You let Cam be Cam and play Cams game....otherwise they are actively and literally going to be holding Cam back.

Seriously watch that QB Camp interview you'll see Brett Favre doing what he isn't supposed to do and throwing across his body/back foot/opposite hand passes etc for like all his memorable plays....let the man fugin play.

It's possible. I do think a guy like Norv Turner would help Cam a lot, but you have to bring in those other WR's to help. Last year when we drafted McCaffrey and Samuel, those weapons were supposed to help Cam out with explosiveness, which Shula didn't come up with (obviously). In my eyes, McCaffrey had the "2nd year drought" his rookie year because he wasn't used properly. Samuel was getting into a groove right before he got hurt. I see Samuel as our 3rd WR/slot WR at times with few Read Option/Reverse plays due to his speed. Add a big play WR like Crabtree or Calvin Ridley/Courtland Sutton and we're doing business. I would love to see Cam drop back and throw it down field; something we actually did the 2nd half vs the Saints and gained momentum with that. Also need a RB to carry the load in order for that to happen, because we don't have a mauler right now on our roster.
