Not to say you're wrong but sounds funny the way you put that. 'It's a non issue'. Someone just has to come up with $125 million (or so) to buy his 5% of the team. #billionaireproblems

Well, when you have a net worth of nearly 12 billion, I guess you don't have to worry about much.

The Steelers are a very popular and profitable organization. Given how many people are looking at buying the Panthers outright, I'd say the league will probably be able to find somebody to buy 5% of the Steelers.

We could all pool our money and buy lottery tickets...

This is 100% of my thought when I buy a powerball. Is it enough to buy or buy/finance a share of the team. Haha

speaking of which it is right now....

Love everything about this.  He's the kind of sharp mind that would see througb a charlatan like Hurney in a second.

Bring as much of that no nonsense workman's Steelers culture as possible, and get rid of this southern good 'ol boy mom and pop shop mickey mouse sentimentality poo ASAP.  JR cultivated that crap the last two decades and its festered way too long.

I think the biggest thing with Tepper is he is already pre vetted by the league and ownership as an approved owner. Granted it will be a formality to redo it as a majority vs minority and he will have to divest Pitt to do the deal but that’s a non issue. This race is his to lose by a mile.

Dont go all Hillary on us...let it play out...

1. Tepper is the guy. Lock this up. What David Tepper wants, he gets.

2. Tepper is one of the most respected people on Wall Street. He's a younger Warren Buffett.

3. He's a hedge fund manager and all hedge fund managers are, deep down, pretty evil.

4. He hates Donald Trump and called him the "father of lies" during the election because Trump didn't give a dime to Sandy relief or to 9/11 charities.

Bet he wishes he could cchange those trump comments right now seeing how well Trump has done in office statistically outside of a few stupid remarks. Overall though, sounds like a good candidate and I like the no bullshit attiude he has. Certainly my 3rd favorite candidate behind Eddie D and Navarro.

A guy who's used to the Steeler way of doing things?  Yeah.

That also means he's used to his team regularly being in the postseason, and not just appearing in Super Bowls.

Breer talks about the NFL "grooming" and "vetting" him to be a full blown NFL owner via his partial stake in the Steelers.  Given that the NFL sort of has Richardson by the balls, it'd seem if they want him to get the team, it's probably gonna happen.

That Steele way poo is BS they cut lesser known people but if a starter or coach does something shitty they sweep it under the rug.

Doubt he stays tied to Hurney very long at all. Through the end of this season is the furthest I could see. But since GMs don't have a lot to do during the season, it could easily be sooner.

If he wants to pull someone from the Steelers front office (and why wouldn't he) there are two, possibly three solid GM candidates available. Mentioned each of them earlier in this thread.

That's not to say he wouldn't look outside the Steelers for a GM option, of course. I'd just expect him to start where he knows best.

Yeah, I think we all wish Hurney the best this offseason because it is critical for us and he has been successful in some of the offseasons he has been here.....but...the history of Marty Hurney tells me we need to move on ASAP.

Don't see where people are getting he is frugal?  Everything he did investing wise doesn't suggest that.  From what I have read he finds distressed companies and bonds and invest heavily in them.

To me he is a value investor that looks for deals and isn't afraid to get on them big time if he thinks they are worth it.

The big thing I worry about is he might think he can just buy a championship which never works.  But being a minority owner of the Steelers might have shown that doesn't work.
